Comedian Patrice O'Neal died last night following a stroke he suffered from in October, according to radio hosts Opie and Anthony. Earlier this month, the duo (friends of O'Neal's) announced that it was uncertain if O'Neal, a diabetic, would recover, and today, Opie Tweeted: "Yes it's true that our pal Patrice O'Neal has passed away. The funniest and best thinker I've ever known PERIOD."
Earlier this year O'Neal, who had been living in NYC since 2002, roasted Charlie Sheen, who had this to say about the comedian after his stroke shortly thereafter: "[Patrice] is a gentle giant, a brilliant comedian, and a noble dude. Wishing him nothing but recovery, healing and laughter."

He lived in Jersey City and bought a bike from our shop a year ago. He was very kind and had everyone in the shop laughing and smiling every time he stopped by. He will be missed.

I gotta stop living under a rock. I had never heard of him. But he is funny and down to earth. Sorry to see him go so young. Would have loved to have seen more of his work. I'll have to catch it on disk or the net.
Just watched his standup special on netflix like 2 weeks ago... very sad to see him go. Always enjoyed seeing him on whatever show he was on (tough crowd, the office, comedy central roasts, etc). RIP Patrice.
Oh no... Rest in peace Patrice, you really were one of the great unique voices in a sea of people who let the entertainment industry define who they were.

You just made a fool out of yourself in front of T-Bone.
All too often some of the best talents leave us too soon but he spread so much laughter to so many people so even if his life was cut short he made a lasting impression and a significant contribution. Thank you Patrice for sharing your talents with us.

RIP Tricey :(

Patrice was about one of the funniest working comics today. He pretty much bought me to tears every time I saw him live, and I am lucky as hell to have caught his act so many times.
A horrible loss.

RIP Patrice and I hope those that knew him find comfort. He was outstanding.
His web clip show was about a billion times better than this Tosh kid.

Completely agree. This sucks donkey nuts!

we are all so glad you agree. commenting on the death of a human being that you claim to admire, by saying "this sucks donkey nuts" is not really considered sympathy for the deceased

It is when the deceased was a comedian and would have appreciated it. You mourn your way, and I'll mourn mine.
masterjarvis
because his profession was comedy that makes it acceptable? I wonder if his family feels that way too? Its amazing that you are able to know what a stranger would appreciate after he is dead.

Yes, because he's a comedian it makes it acceptable, and I figured he wouldn't mind it because his comedy wasn't exactly what one would deem as feel-good or goody-two-shoes; he was on 2 different Comedy Central Roast shows, for Christ's sake. You know what's amazing is the fact that you're being a complete dickhead about a comment that was heartfelt. Would you like to dictate to the entire world how they should act/feel/react/behave? Something tells me you would, Massa Jarvis.

you know what i would like? to punch you in the face several thousand times repeatedly

I would like that too, but we both know it would be impossible since the first punch would result in your pitiful little girly hand splintering into a thousand pieces. You should really learn not to sweat the petty. That anger will give you cancer.
