Craisin Crisis! Dried Fruit Recalled Due To "Hair-Like Metal Fragments"

Craisins, which for years have battled an inferiority complex against raisins, suffered another blow to their reputation this weekend, when manufacturer Ocean Spray announced a recall of thousands of bags due to "the possible presence of very small hair-like metal fragments." The fragments, like the dried cranberries themselves, will do nothing to enhance your salad-eating experience.

The company is calling for a "precautionary recall" of Original Flavor Craisins Dried Cranberries in 5-ounce, 10-ounce and 48-ounce packages, as well as bulk sweetened dried cranberries in 10-pound packages. So far, no injuries have been reported, and the company said they initiated this recall "out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our consumers."

The FDA site has a full list of sell-by dates affected, and Ocean Spray is telling shoppers who have a bag of the metal-tainted berries to destroy it, then go revel in the fresh, fragment-free flavor of Sun-Maid's instead.

  • Many people view oil in wild hair as a catastrophe and rinse to eliminate all of this for squeaky clean wild hair. As for your epidermis, your wild hair needs some of the sebum to help keep it healthy and gleaming.

I just ate a package of these last week.  The hair-like metal fragments gave it an added zing!
