Pizza and waiting-forever-for-pizza lovers, rejoice! Di Fara pizzeria in Midwood has officially re-opened, following a nasty little spat with the Health Department over some less-than-savory conditions in the legendary restaurant.

"Di Fara Pizza is open today," they posted on Facebook this morning, and a call to the restaurant confirms it. It is worth noting, briefly, that they will be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving and on Saturday for a family event, but after that, "we'll be open for good," they told us.

The pizzeria's closing provoked a heated debate about its cleanliness, spurred along by the restaurant's flippant Facebook comments toward the DOH. But this re-opening seems legit, so go ahead and start lining up now while you some time over the long weekend.

  • Despite the low Health inspection rating, still the best tasting pizza in all of NYC.

  • I don't understand why they can't clean and fix the place up.  It's not like people come there for the ambiance - they come for the pizza and that's it.

"... less-than-savory conditions in the legendary restaurant."

Yesterday it's was a cockroach-infested pizza joint. I am skeptical.

Does the DOH inspect supermarkets as it does Restaurants...   Some of the markets in my neighborhood are pretty suspect....If you know what I mean..

  • ever notice that almost every Gristedes smells weird?   It's gotta be the worst supermarket in the city

There he is... pouring the oil.  My last pie there was soaked.  Fuckin nasty.

I'm sorta with you on this. It's good pizza, but too fucking oily. I don't get that part. I like oil on my pizza sure, but that much I don't understand. Also, it's salty as hell.

The best freshest pizza anywhere in the city. You guys probably like Domino's or some other crap.
