Video: NYPD Officers Lock Themselves Out Of Squad Car

111611cops.jpg

The city's on a tight budget right now, and a locksmith would eat into the money that's meant for the NYPD's overtime. So to get out of the familiar jam of helplessly looking at your keys in the drivers seat, these officers turn a bent metal rod into a slim jim. Courtesy, Professionalism, Respect, Ingenuity?

According to MyBlockNYC, the cops were locked out on 86th Street between Second and First Avenues, and appear to resist the temptation to seek assistance from the seven locksmiths in the area. Maybe they should have just asked if there was a carjacker in central booking?

When TA employees used to get locked out of their booths and had to call Transit PD to open the booths, the cops used to refer to the calls as 'Rocket Scientist' jobs.
