Chelsea Clinton's New Job: NBC News Correspondent

Welcome back to the spotlight, Chelsea! (WikiCommons).
When rumors were circulating that Chelsea Clinton was getting ready to enter the spotlight, many assumed that meant following in her parent's political footsteps. Instead it seems that the youngest Clinton is following in the footsteps of famous political daughters Jenna Bush Hager and Meghan McCain and is taking a job at Comcast subsidiary NBC. We'd make a joke about being on NBC barely counting as being in the spotlight, but the NBC Nightly News actually gets the best of the nightly news ratings.

Clinton's new gig starts immediately and, according to NBC News president Steve Capus, she will be working on stories for its "Making a Difference" series. And she won't be phoning it, Capus claims. Clinton "made it very clear that this is not going to be a surface-deep relationship" he said before adding, "She wants to be in the field for the shoot and in the edit room for the edit."

Of course going "full-times" is going to be tricky, as the 31-year-old married former First Daughter also says she "will continue her work with the Clinton Foundation and her studies at Oxford" while she enters the TV fray. Also? According to sources she intends to "donate most of the money she earned from NBC to the Clinton Foundation and the George Washington University Hospital in the name of her grandmother, who died this month."

In a statement Clinton says: "I hope telling stories through 'Making a Difference' — as in my academic work and nonprofit work — will help me to live my grandmother’s adage of 'Life is not about what happens to you, but about what you do with what happens to you.'" And this is also good news for Sasha and Malia Obama—once they start looking for summer jobs to save up for college.

A 'meeskite', political opportunist (like her mother-). . .  on her way to becoming a political hack!

  • splicernyc

Unlike the name "Bush", the name "Clinton" represents competence.

    Monica, is that you?

  • depends on how you define competence

I'm looking forward to watching her show on MSNBC.

  • soxinthecity

Outside of seeming so extremely introverted when speaking in public, Chelsea Clinton would be a good bet to be the first female POTUS.

  • And her qualifications are?

  • whiteiris

    Same as Obama's, zilch.

  • No argument here

  • marilync

You're all way to cynical. I think she'll do well and good for her!

Now now she looks just like daddy Hubbell

  • Give her some fuck-me pumps, a short skirt and put her on Fox News- Fair and Balanced............ like her career.

  • ANGRYGOD11

Chelsea might actually be good at this. She has shown a lot of poise during elections and scandals.

And somewhere in the world Amy Carter is thinking:  Damn cheek!

  • Gothampc

Chelsea's not using her hyphenated married name?  Her husband must be p-whipped.

    Is this Gothamist c. 1960?

" And she won't be phoning it, Capus claims. " -- because she phoned in the hedge fund job, and everyone knows it.
