Israel To Extradite Brooklyn Hasid Accused Of Racially-Charged Beating

A Brooklyn Hasidic man who has been in Israel for the past three years, avoiding NYC authorities, will be extradited back to the U.S. to face charges related to the beating of a young black man in Crown Heights. The Daily News reports, "A Jerusalem court Thursday approved the extradition of Yitzhak Shuchat, 28, who’s been indicted for assault as a hate crime and other counts for the alleged baton beatdown of Andrew Charles in 2008."

Shuchat was part of the Hasidic civilian patrol Shmira, and Shuchat and other members allegedly beat Charles, the 20-year-old son of a police officer—apparently Charles was first "doused him with pepper spray" by a white man a bicycle and then "Shuchat [jumped] out of a GMC Envoy and beating him in the back and arm with a nightstick." At the time, Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes said, "You can’t have a group, whether it’s the Bloods, Crips or Shmira, acting like vigilantes." But in 2008, Shuchat's uncle questioned all the fuss, "They are looking for a scapegoat because this was a police officer's son. The kid doesn't even have a broken arm! Does that warrant all this? They are treating my nephew like a murderer."

Charles' father Moses Charles told the News, “That’s great. My son is finally getting the justice he deserves. The system is actually working."

I remember that group from Williamsburg . They used to patrol the Jewish areas , Shining flashlights in peoples eyes and trying to cut cyclists off acting like they were the cops .  If memory serves me right the 90th precinct cops put an end to there "Patrolling" . Hmm, Interesting .

"apparently Charles was first "doused him with pepper spray" by a white man a bicycle and then "Shuchat [jumped] out of a GMC Envoy and beating him in the back and arm with a nightstick.""

WTF is going on with this/these sentence(s)?

Shuchat's uncle doesn't think his nephew should be prosecuted, because Mr. Charles didn't have a 'broken arm' (?!?). They're t'treating him like a criminal.'

    Yes, they are. And should.

Attacking ANYONE -no matter the severity, or, YOUR (perceived) level of said attack's criminality or injury is WRONG. Period.

Shame on you, for defending your nephew's actions.

    Hope Mr. Charles is better
