Late last night, an off-duty cop was jumped at 91st Street and Riverside Park. He fired at the suspect, who got away and managed to take the cops gun!

WABC 7 reported, "Initially, there was apparently some sort of assault between the officer and the suspect. When that happened, the officer reportedly reached for his gun and began firing. The suspect was not hit. Then, during a scuffle, the officer lost his gun and suffered a minor head injury." Lost turned into stolen, as police say the gun was taken from the cop.

Police flooded the park in search of the gun and suspect—they found the gun, but the suspect is still at large. Neighbors believes they heard around eight gunshots.

Good thing he had a gun or he would've been raped by Bubba ,

then everyone would be whining and complaining about the lack of Police in the area

But I thought that if we all were allowed to carry guns we'd be much safer

Should the cop be fired on the spot as incapable to defend even himself, even with a gun at his disposal? As Jon Stewart says, unless the cop was jumped by Godzilla, I see no justification to keep him on the force.

Sounds like a lovers quarrel gone bad.

    Or a negotiation gone sour.

Yeah, this sounds kind of fishy.  Were there any eyewitnesses?

This is definitely a fishy incident as the officer is refusing to answer questions.

Sounds like self defense... on the civilian's part.
