Eddie Murphy Says He's Over His SNL Grudge, Is Only Doing "Edgy" Stuff Now

Sitting pretty
Eddie Murphy, who you've been desperately trying to avoid in theaters for the past few years, is really pushing hard to keep some of the positive momentum he has going from that whole "I'm hosting the Oscars" thing from a few weeks back. This week, he landed a sweet spot on the cover of Rolling Stone, where he drops some amazing tidbits on an unsuspecting public.

For starters, he's only looking to do "edgy" stuff right now, not any of that "family-oriented" crap like this or this or this. To that end, he's working on a TV show...about the son of his Beverly Hills Cop character, Axel Foley, which has absolutely nothing to do with families, okay? He also refutes claims that he's a recluse, explaining, quite simply, that "Recluses are nasty, with long nails, don't wash their ass... I'm too vain to be a recluse." The Recluse Equality Association has yet to respond to Murphy's allegations, naturally.

And, in case Lorne Michaels is reading, Murphy's totally over his old SNL grudge: "They were shitty to me on Saturday Night Live a couple of times after I'd left the show... I felt shitty about it for years, but now, I don't have none of that." Is it too much to hope for a Buckwheat cameo on Weekend Update? We will also accept Stevie Wonder if absolutely necessary. At this point, he could do stand-up on a stage of razor blades and still not be considered edgy.

  • I don't blame him for his SNL grudge, Lorne is a jerk.  Murphy singlehandedly saved that show from cancelation the five years Lorne was gone and gave him something to comeback to.  Then Lorne and his 90's stars who should've all started every episode thanking Eddie for the survival of the vehicle that would launch their careers put the boot to him every chance they got?  They would've never have dared to make fun of Chase, Martin, or Akroyd.
