A Jersey City man has been charged with reckless assault after the SUV he was driving on the Staten Island Expressway early yesterday morning flipped, killing one of the six passengers riding in the vehicle with him. Nigel Saiboo, 41, could face further charges if his blood tests come back showing any alcohol or drugs in his system.

Saiboo was driving on the SI Expressway a little after 5 a.m. when he struck a guardrail before rolling onto a grassy median, landing on its roof. Passenger Rabindra Sawh, 45, also of Jersey City, died at the scene.

"I went to the hospital looking for him, thinking he was alive," Sawh's wife, Tajwattie Sawh, told the Advance. "The last time I talked to him he was telling me how nice the cruise was and that next time he would take me." According to his wife, Sawh immigrated from Guyana with her in 1984.

Authorities say that four other passengers and Saiboo were treated at local hospitals and are all in stable condition. A sixth passenger refused medical attention.
