Doctor Arrested For DWI Twice In One Weekend

102411doc.jpg Dr. Susana G. Duncan allegedly had herself a helluva weekend at her second home in Columbia County. Duncan, a sports medicine doctor whose primary residence is on Park Avenue here in NYC, first ran afoul of the law on Saturday, when she called police to report that her 2004 Volkswagen had been stolen. But cops quickly closed the file on that one after they located the vehicle on Duncan's property, crashed down a large embankment, NBC New York reports.

Duncan was arrested and charged with DWAI; police say she had a blood alcohol content of .07 percent. She was processed and released, and was ordered to return to court on November 9th. But it seems Duncan couldn't wait to get back into the legal system, because less than 24 hours later she was allegedly clocked doing 80 mph in a 55 mph zone on the Taconic. Her blood alcohol level was reportedly 0.19 percent, and she was arrested for aggravated DWI and second-degree obstructing governmental justice.

Duncan was arraigned in Lagrange and sent to the Dutchess County Jail on $2,500 cash bail, Fox 5 reports. At press time, it was unclear if she would make it out in time to go for the elusive DWI hat trick.

Damn... 80 miles on the Taconic while drunk. She could have killed a lot of people.

I wish states would take a tougher stance on drunk driving. Like if you're caught driving drunk, your license is taken away for 6 months. Second offense, it's taken away permanently. We really should have no tolerance for this kind of behavior.

  • Aren't they trying to implement that in-car breathalizer thing, where if you been charged w/DUI/DWI, you must have it installed into your car and blow into it prior to the car starting, if you blow above the legal limit, the car won't start?  Although i'm sure plenty will still find a way to cheat it.

I suspect the photographer didn't have much to work with.

Throw the book at her.  Speeding while drunk is like twirling a loaded gun around your index finger while you pole dance in the nude.  Her BAC was will over TWICE the legal limit. Why is this tolerated?

  • Because there is no victim here.  She did not cause damage to property, hit anyone, or injure herself.  She should have been given a ticket for speeding, had her car towed, and been picked up by a friend or family member.

Wait so as long as you don't injure anyone, you can do things that are really fucking stupid and dangerous to those around you?

I'm curious: what's your stance on cyclists running red lights? Sober or drunk, whichever you think will be safer.

  • Pretty much, yes; But use your common sense and remember, your freedom to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.  You break the rules, you pay dearly.  You don't break the rules, i.e., injure, maim, damage someone or something, then enjoy your life.

  • So you'd rather a driver with a continuing sobriety problem be allowed to drive until they injure or maim someone and then get penalized?? That's seriously flawed logic. And too bad for the victim.

  • Well, that's your opinion and fuck you and your flawed logic.

Was she arrested for DWAI or just given a ticket?  Isn't that just a traffic violation (below 0.08 BAC)?
