Over the weekend, investigators issued a warning to women in Long Island City, Queens, where six women have been assaulted by a bike-riding groper since September. Now, another disturbing attempted sexual assault in the borough has one City Council member vowing payback.

On Sunday night, in the Laurelton section, a 23-year-old woman was followed by a man from a bus stop at South Conduit Avenue near Edwood Avenue: "He grabbed her from behind, threw her to the ground, and tried to get on top of her, according to police." A resident heard the woman's screams and told NBC New York, "I heard a girl screaming, yelling for 'help! Help! Help!, This guy tried to rape me.' Her face was bloody, she had no shoes on, her legs was bloodied up. By the time I came out, he was running."

Councilman James Sanders, who represents the neighborhood, said, "If we can get our hands on this pervert, the least of his problems will be the law. This is not the type of community that abides degenerates." According to the Post, Sanders thinks the high weeds hide possible attackers and "he vowed to return with volunteers to cut the weeds himself if they are not gone by the weekend." Another woman was attacked on the same road last week and a few days before that, a woman in Springfield Gardens, Queens, was sexually assaulted at knifepoint.

As for the LIC sexual assaults, investigators say that suspect, described as a 30-to-40-year-old Hispanic, usually rides up to victims and grabs their buttocks or breasts and then flees. His victims have been as young as 12.
