Video: Hank Williams, Jr. Compares Obama & Boehner To Hitler & Netanyahu
Important political analyst Hank Williams, Jr. appeared on FOX and Friends this morning and was asked about the flagging 2012 GOP field. Looking like an extra in Boogie Nights 2: Truckstop Dreamz, Williams rails about last month's round of golf between President Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner: "That would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu."
He continued: "Obama and Biden? Are you kidding? That's like the Three Stooges!" Watch the cast of FOX and Friends collectively pray for swift, sweet death!
Unfortunately for Hank, ESPN is pulling his Monday Night Football intro from tonight's broadcast. In a statement to CBS reporter Will Brinson, ESPN says:
While Hank Williams, Jr. is not an ESPN employee, we recognize that he is closely linked to our company through the open to Monday Night Football. We are extremely disappointed with his comments, and as a result we have decided to pull the open from tonight’s telecast.
In related news, there is a celebrity handler who needs a job: they're especially adept with glue-on beards and mixing quaaludes into coffee.
Funny that nobody has singled in on the fact that H.W. Jr. openly admitted he is adamantly against multiple parties in the United States Government working together. It almost sounded as if he would actually support a one party system or even a dictatorship. Who's more like Hitler at this point?

Hank pulls a Rush.

0bama is more like Stalin.

If Hank wanted to make a more accurate analogy, he would have used David Cameron and Ed Miliband. Or he could have turned to American history and compared Obama and Boehner to William Howard Taft and Champ Clark. Or if he wanted to stick with Israeli politics, he would have used Netanyahu and Tzipi Livni. Or since he insisted on jumping into these waters, Hitler and Ernst Thälmann.
I mean, Hitler and Netanyahu? That just doesn't make any sense.

You never think about how smart Gothamist commenters are until you accidentally find yourself on a right-wing website when looking for a transcript. http://www.thegatewaypundit.co...

Comparing Obama to Hitler is wrong, now if he compared him to Jimmy Carter...
marco_esquandolas
He'd still be wrong. Carter's wounds were mostly self-inflicted, while Obama can't get anything done because of a House Republican majority uninterested in helping him get anything accomplished.
Jimmy Carter had Tip O'Neill for Speaker; a Democrat to his core.

What happened when Dimwits were in control for close to 2 years?
Isn't Carter's big drum that he's beating "hey, I didn't get America into any wars," these days?
marco_esquandolas
He had hollowed out and demoralized armed services left over from Vietnam, and his one major overseas military operation was a spectacular failure. One shudders to think what would have happened if Carter was seized with a sense of military adventurism.
You know, I seem to remember a lot of left-leaning celebrities (Michael Moore, Alec Baldwin) making overt comparisons to Bush being Hitler and no one said a word. Why do they get a pass?
randomtransplant
Specific comparisons invoking the historical record in a topically political context regarding militarization and fascism?
Politburo
Baldwin has certainly gotten flak for comments over the years. Moore is overtly political and can be expected to make incendiary comments.. it's like being surprised that Ann Coulter said something controversial.
But more importantly, if no one said a word, how would you know of and remember these events?
And most importantly, [citation needed], cause this comment is in the top ten search results for 'baldwin bush hitler' (along with a bunch of stuff about Chuck Baldwin, a right winger). Perhaps what you remember never happened.

And which President got us into two high-intensity ground wars within three years of each other?
Roger_the_Shrubber
And what about Libya? Last I checked we were bombing them senseless.
Well, he did say "ground war." Which, to be fair, I think is a big difference. If Obama, Clinton, or Bush Sr. want to feed the military-industrial complex by bombing a place-- well I reject the policy of bombing pretty much wholesale outside of a context of total war, & I think it is pretty dang stupid to pretend you can save a country...by bombing it-- but it is a whole 'nother beast than rolling in, occupying & attempting to secure a location. When Bush Sr., Obama or Clinton got bored with their little wars...we just left. Jr. got us in a Vietnamy quagmire.
I ain't saying he's Hitler, though. That is pretty ridiculous. I mean-- he was a total shit show, even above & beyond the fact that they are all shit shows, but not Hitler. Especially 'cause as people are fond of pointing out, the liberty infringing & executive privilege bloating policies of Bush Jr. have been adopted wholesale by Obama.

@mordicai:disqus It's an entirely different thing, which is why I chose my words like I did. I knew somebody would bite.. ;)
@Roger_the_Shrubber:disqus You cannot compare ONLY running airstrikes to having infantry/armored divisions rolling on the ground.
