Williamsburg Eaters' Favorite Restaurants Are In... Williamsburg

Williamsburg diners, along with East Villagers, Long Island City-ites and Park Slopers are the least likely to leave their zip code to eat out, according to some new data about the city's dining habits commissioned by the Post. "The L is a joke on weekends, and so many restaurants in Manhattan just end up being a complete shitshow, with the waits and the crowds and the bad service," said one Gothamist staffer who lives in Williamsburg. "Leaving the area to eat just seems like an unnecessary hassle," said another. The top three favorite dining destinations in the 11211 zip code? DuMont Burger, Marlow & Sons, and Motorino, whose unfortunate recent shuttering paves the way for some new neighborhood joints to steal the title.

Other noteworthy nuggets from the data mining include: people pretty much all over the city still really like diners (probably because people pretty much all over the city still need a hangover omelet on Saturdays), and Harlemites and Staten Islanders have absolutely no shame in their love for national chains like Applebee's and Popeye's—which is kind of understandable when you check out the latter's scoop-shaped chicken snacks!

I was at DuMont Burger yesterday.  The burger was quite good, but everything took a holy-crap-are-they-butchering-the-cow-right-now? long time.  The fries, while delicious, were obscenely greasy.

Anyway, two burgers, plus two sodas ended up costing us $43 (including a 20% tip). If Williamsburg residents have no problem spending that kind of cash for a couple burgers, then good for them; as for me, I doubt I'll go back to DuMont unless I'm in the neighborhood already, *and* happen to be also famished to the point where a cross-river trip won't do... and even then, there are probably quicker fixes to be had on Bedford.

DuMont is full of themselves. They're just burgers, no need to dish out 43 bucks.

Since when did burgers become gourmet anyways?

You couldn't pay me to go into Manhattan on the weekend unless for a special event.

I live in Williamsburg and I won't even leave my apartment for meals.

Since I had to spend 75 minutes stuck on the F and then the C trains last night, I'd rather that the subway didn't stand between my self and my dinner. Plus, Williamsburg has some of the best restaurants in the city (except there is only one really good Chinese place, and that needs to change).

If not venturing anywhere to get food makes you cool than me and 80 cats are killing the game.

Jamie, did you really just quote one of your co-workers? That must have been one hard to get interview.

The fact that Williamsburg does have pretty good restaurants, coupled with the fact that people who live in Williamsburg are self important with a severe superiority complex, one can say the result of this data is more obvious than Ricky Martin announcing to the world that he is gay.
