MTA Rejects Ad Calling Israel's Enemies Savages

092611gellerad.jpg The MTA will not run ads from right-wing demagogue Pamela Geller, who wanted to spread the word that those who oppose Israel are "savages." Geller has previously bought ads on MTA buses showing a plane about to hit the second tower at the World Trade Center, with a rendering of the Islamic center and mosque planned for Lower Manhattan, and the question, "Why There?" The MTA first rejected that ad, then approved it after Geller threatened to sue. Naturally, she's threatening to sue again, so there's still hope her xenophobic message of hate will come to a subway station near you!

An executive at CBS Outdoor, which is the MTA's media management company, told Geller that the proposed ad violates authority standards, because it "demeans an individual or group of individuals." CBS is willing to consider the ad with revisions, the Daily News reports, or Geller can request a "formal and final determination."

In the meantime, MTA will accept a more cuddly pro-Israel ad submitted by another organization, Stand With Us, an international non-profit "dedicated to informing the public about Israel and to combating the extremism and anti-Semitism that often distorts the issues." This ad, which will run for a month, is likely a response to this controversial pro-Palestine ad, which Assemblyman Dov Hikind called "very, very dangerous."

Apartheid Israel has been spreading propaganda like this ever since it was re-invented in 1948!

Graphically peeling innocent New Yorkers' skin off with fruit acid?  That's something directly from the sick mind of Osama bin Laden.

    I fucking knew it!

He's not really zapping moles or removing shitty tattoos. ..  he's installing sub-dermal tracking devices.

Glad someone else sees what is REALLY going on.

  • I don't have any emotional ties to either side.

It's not hard to see the flaming racism here.

So.... let me get this straight...... The opposition to the "Ground Zero Past The Burger King And Strip Joint" Mosque is because it might upset and inflame some people, yet this dumb fucking cunt- and I call her that with all due apologies to other dumb fucking cunts- feels it's ok to label a religion that has 1.5 billion members "savage"?   How fucking pathetic that this all comes from a Jew.  You'd think that a follower of a religion that itself has been subject to gross stereotypes and persecution from know-nothing fucktards might be a little more sensitive, but again, we go back to the whole "dumb cunt" thing and I will attribute her gross ignorance to personal stupidity and insensitivity and arrogance, rather than as a trait common to followers of Judaism.

Crazy bitch tranny-looking beast is welcome to pay for that shit, I'll happily deface every single one.

It would be equally wrong if someone called any race of people savages .

  • I don't agree with the decision to reject the ad. The MTA, as a government-controlled public-benefit corporation, does not have the authority to pick-and-choose political messages. It should accept ALL or accept NONE.

  • It doesn't look like a political ad.  It looks like it's trying to dehumanize Palestinians by calling them savages, thus allowing us to not really care about their slaughter or the creation of their own sovereign state.  It's actually quite a piece of racist propoganda.

  • No obscenity - to me, the MTA must allow it.

Pro-Palestinian groups can buy, and in the past, have bought ad space.

  • diablofreak

so let's run an ad calling all enemies of Islam degenerates. there's no obsencity, how about that?

i say kudos to MTA in this rare case. I don't believe there's a problem at all in how they elected not to run the ad. They probably weighed both sides, and the fact is that it's that the reaction and backlash they will get if they chose to run the ad will be a lot greater than if they chose to censor it.

  • Bronxalien2013

How about calling your people savages?  You wouldnt have a problem with that? Its hard to find a real Liberal when Israel is the subject. They all of a sudden become Bill O reilly.

  • No problem whatsoever.

The MTA can always make the decision to stop accepting political ads altogether, however.

Unless it involved implied or actual obscenity, the MTA has no right to restrict messages without a neutral basis for doing so (i.e., that is why the MTA can ban cigarette ads from its buses and subways).

Allow Geller's ad. Such is the beauty of the First Amendment, and there are generally only 3 exceptions to it: obscenity/pornography, divulging national or corporate trade secrets to unauthorized persons, or inciting lawless actions such as a riot. This does none of those.

  • candyazzbb

you have no problem because its not your people the C*nt is calling savages. she looks like a savage beast

  • sharpshoota

How about we start allowing the KKK place ads in the subways calling all blacks and spanish as savage criminals and actually show some crime statistics to prove it. That wouldn't fly either Adam Moron.
