Shhhh: Metro-North Expands Quiet Car Pilot To Hudson, Harlem Lines

Just as cell service is coming to New York's underground subway stops, Metro-North has announced that it is expanding its pilot "quiet car" program to include its Hudson and Harlem lines. Good news for commuters looking for a few minutes of peace, yes, but possibly bad news for "very well-educated" people!

The expanded program will kick off on Monday, October 17, on the last car of select peak-hour trains. According to Metro-North, unless you can keep them quiet you better not think about using cell phones, iPods, DVD players, laptops, and other electronic devices in those quiet cars. Further, passengers wearing headphones will have to keep the volume low enough so that others can't hear the sound. After all, quiet does not mean silent! Meanwhile, we wonder if the MTA will ever seriously consider bringing "conversation cars" or quiet cars to the subway. We wouldn't object!

I don't want quiet cars at all on the LIRR, because it will take all the fun out of using my cell phone jammer.  EVERYONE should have one of these, they are cheap, and can be hilarious to use.  Obnoxious cell phone user..."Yeah, so I was like....hello?  Hello?  Hello?".  Yeah...fuck cell phone users on the rails.  Buncha self-entitled jackoffs.

Now just to get the trains themselves to stop squeeking and shrieking as they bounce along the track! Oil!

All cars but 2 or 3 in each trainset should be Quiet Cars on Metro North and LIRR...
