Apple Expected To Announce iPhone 5 October 4

Our long national nightmare may soon be over! AllThingsD is reporting that Apple will be holding its next big media event—presumably to announce the highly-anticipated iPhone 5—on Tuesday, October 4. Beyond giving us a new gizmo to lust after, the event will also be an important chance for the company to show off its new CEO, Tim Cook, in the wake of Steve Jobs recent departure.

As for what will make the iPhone 5 different from the iPhone 4? Because this new version has also been, uh, lost at a bar. We'll find out soon enough. And, if history is any guide, the phones will be available for sale quite soon after...So expect long lines. Who can bother waiting a few extra days when there is a shiny new toy to stuff in your pocket, right?

SAT scores dropping, Italy downgraded, Greece, and by connection, the Euro zone, teetering on the edge of disaster...oooooh, look a shiny new gadget! What were we talking about?

The Android phones are becoming so powerful these days, the only thing the iphone has going for it is style, a brand name, and decent apps. And a large fanbase that will buy every iphone Apple comes out with regardless if they release a turd and call it 'ipoo'.
