The NYPD collected 164 guns at a buyback on Staten Island Saturday, but there's still a long way to go, as gunfire in Brooklyn and Queens over the weekend left three men dead and two people injured. The first murder occurred around 11 p.m. Saturday night in Sheepshead Bay, where a 27-year-old man named Avery Kelly was gunned down in the entrance of an apartment building at 2258 Batchelder Street, just down the block from his residence. Police sources tell the Daily News they recovered more than 25 shell casings in the hallway of the building, and no arrests have been made.

Over in Brownsville, a man whom witnesses say was an innocent bystander was fatally caught in the crossfire at the corner of Livonia and Rockaway Avenues around 3:15 a.m. The gunfire erupted after an argument, and two other men were shot, one in the abdomen and one in the foot—they're both in stable condition. The News describes a grisly scene that morning, with the dead man's body lying face-up on the sidewalk of Rockaway Avenue as his distraught family wept. "Let me see my brother!" a man yelled at police "as he wept in the middle of the street."

And in Jamaica, Queens, another early morning shooting left a 25 year-old man dead. Lucien Lee Brown was hit multiple times in the torso around 4 a.m. on 107th Avenue near Sutphin Boulevard. His family tells ABC 7 that someone fired at him last week while standing at the same location, but on that occasion they missed. The NYPD says no arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing.
