Last Night's Action: So Close

2008_12_metslogo.jpg David Wright made a costly error and the Mets missed a big chance in the 9th as they fell to Washington 2-0. Wright's error allowed Ian Desmond to reach first with one out. Mike Pelfrey stuck the next batter out, but surrendered back-to-back singles for the only scoring in the game. The Mets got the first two runners on in the 9th, but Justin Turner popped up his bunt attempt and Jason Pridle grounded out wile moving the runners up. That brought up Jose Reyes with a chance to tie it. Reyes laced a liner to center, but Rick Ankiel made a great catch to end the game.

A NIck Swisher homer tied the game at 1 and a great relief job by David Robertson kept it that way. But the Mariners won 2-1 it in the 12th on a lead off home run from Luis Rodriguez
