Jets Game Stung Gun Guy Says He Zapped Marine In Self-Defense

091411taser.jpg The South Carolina man who was charged with aggravated assault and weapons possession for allegedly firing a stun gun during a fight at MetLife stadium Sunday says he zapped in self-defense. 59-year-old Larry McKelvey, a Cowboys fan, was attending the game with his fiance, Gloria Dargin, when trouble started with some Jets fans, one of whom is a Marine who was reportedly angered when the couple remained seated during the National Anthem. But Dargin insists they're not unpatriotic: "We did not stand up, not disrespecting our country, we weren't standing up because of our medical reasons," she tells the local TV station.

Dargin did not elaborate on what their medical reasons were, but she maintains McKelvey was defending her. When she tried to leave the row to use the bathroom toward the end of the second quarter, others in the row wouldn't budge to let her out. "I said 'Sir, excuse me. What's the matter? Why you acting like this?' " Dargin recalls. "I said 'Sir, I need to use the restroom now. I don't know what your problem is.' "

Then, according to Dargin, one of the men intentionally bumped her to provoke McKelvey. "Larry was really protecting me," she tells CBS 5. "When Larry punched him, they went down. I've got bruises on my leg, on the back of my thigh, I got kicked in the head... I heard the stun gun, before I saw the stun gun. I'm not going to lie. I heard the bzzzz, but to see him with a stun gun I didn't see it." You can also hear that dreadful zapping sound on the video:

McKelvey's son, Power 105.1 DJ Charlamagne Tha God, took to the airwaves this week to defend his father, a Jehovah's Witness whose religion, according to his son, prohibits him from standing during the national anthem. As for the stun gun, "he didn't sneak it in. It was right on his hip. A higher power absolutely knew there was going to be some jerks in the stands who would assault him." After being released on $225,000 bail, McKelvey told the Daily News, "Don't make be out to be a criminal. I was just doing what I had to do to protect myself." No one was seriously injured during the fracas, which took place on the tenth anniversary of 9/11, with George W. Bush in attendance.

I'll let all the smart ass people figure out what race I am!  I am only 47 and have to piss every two hours, and if I am at a game, and out of my trying to be polite and not intrude on anyway by staying in my seat as long as I possibly can, and I want out for medical reasons, it shouldn't be a hassle.  It is hypocritical for a marine to pretend to be fighting for our rights as Americans, and then to turn around and get pissed if I don't stand during the National Anthem, plus take my civil liberties away by restricting my freedom. Only police can do that.  Look at the real issues here-- a Marine, probably pissed because not everyone is as "American" as he is supposedly pretending to be, was a dickhead and infringed on the civil liberties of a couple with probable medical reasons. Not everyone is as fit as he is, and I tell ya what, if he was under my command, he would be busted in rank or doing toilet duty since he obviously misses the point about what being an American citizen is all about.

  •  THIS GOES TO EVERYONE MAKING NEGATIVES COMMENTS ! I think Jesus would have stayed away from the rock and received his high school diploma...

  • YOU ARE SO SMART ASHLEY

  • whatidsay

#thinkaboutitIf I could make sense out of anything you wrote, then I might.try to. On another note, is this guy the next gubernatorial candidate, or does he just have the same barber as Jimmy McMillan?

  • That marine was a p*ssy. Any self respecting grunt would have taken the taser from McKelvey and shoved it up his Jehova's Witnass

  • Jon Martinez

seriously, a gray haired black panther with a monster chip on his shoulder shows up with a taser on 9/11 at opening day for the Jets sporting a Cowboys jersey....hmmmmmmmmm.........how long before this lying stack of sh*t he starts busting out the 'race card' and 'Jets fans are racists' smack????????  anyone????? anyone??????? there is more race division in this county with Obama at the helm than there was since the Civil War........

  • Kat1972

I am a Jehovah's Witness. I seriously doubt that Mr. McKelvey is & if he is, he is not a practicing Christian. Who ever had a Jehovah's Witness call at their door with a beard???? More importantly, most don't even carry weapons....and especially never into events. There is nothing that says a Witness can't respectfully stand during the national anthem. I do,  As for the medical reasons, if they walked into the stadium .... they could stand. Just making excuses for their bad behavior.

Are you STUPID, or just a LIAR?  The man's own son has declared on the radio waves that his father is a Jehovah's Witness. DJ THA GOD was reared as a JW by McKelvey.

The only one who is NOT a JW is YOU. Every JW knows that it is forbidden to stand up for the National Anthem. That has been a diecast WatchTower teaching since the 1930s.

  • Rex

If he was a JW, he wouldn't have a beard. Something not right with his story.

  • JJ2014

Who are these ignoramuses who keep posting on every discussion site their allegation that McKelvey CAN'T BE A JEHOVAH'S WITNESS because he is currently wearing a beard. These halfwits want to argue with McKelvey's own son who has made it perfectly clear that McKelvey is a Jehovah's Witness. DJ THA GOD was himself reared as a JW by his father.

Any halfwit JW knows that JW Males are merely discouraged from sporting a beard if they happen to be a JW Male who is in a position of authority. Otherwise, it is a personal decision. African-American and Hispanic JW Males are particularly given a pass by WatchTower leadership when it comes to wearing beards or mustaches.

Besides, beards are here today, gone tomorrow. Who knows how McKelvey looked a month ago, six months ago, or six months from now.

These JW Halfwits can only be trying to deflect criticism of one of their own, who is now claiming that he and now only one other person with him (previously reported as 3 others with him) did not stand for the National Anthem DUE TO MEDICAL REASONS -- when everyone knows that JWs NEVER stand up for the Anthem, despite what the second JW Idiot below claims.

And, despite eyewitnesses who previously reported that McKelvey's "entourage" were talking loudly, and acting obnoxiously and disrespectfully during TAPS and AMAZING GRACE, now according to McKelvey, nothing of the kind happened.

And, now, according to McKelvey, he rescued his female girlfriend from the brute of a Marine after they begged the Marine to allow them to use the restroom.

This is BULLSHIT of the highest order -- perfected during hundreds of hours of knocking doors trying to convince someone -- just anyone -- please -- believe our BULLSHIT and  join up with the Jehovah's Witnesses.

  • whitecastlerock

Jumpin Jehovah! Take your medical reasons and shove them up your ass...

  • brooklynRick

If you can't stand up for medical reasons how the hell did you get to the seat?  I'm calling bullshit.

  • If he didn't want to stand he doesn't have to stand.  Get over yourself.

if you feel the need to carry a weapon to a crowded event like a football game it shows:
    1. that you're an individual who lives in fear.
    2. that you're likely to find any reason to use it.

  • getDange

"if you feel the need to carry a weapon to a crowded event like a football game ..."
what about baseball, hockey and even boxing, with all those bats, razors and fists? jk I got your point ;)

  • bggb

    USA! USA!

Seriously, is there anything more American than two Americans getting into a fight over the national anthem at a football game on 9/11 and then on guy tasering the other?

  • That is the best response to this that I have seen. Also probably the closest to the truth.

  • jfu222

That comment made me spit my water out. Hilarious.

  • getDange

On top of assaulting drunk and thus defenseless marines who risk their lives daily protecting our freedoms, these people offended all Jehovah's Witnesses by labeling their religion a medical condition. I bet this McKelvey trio are Democrats.
