Spin Doctors Will Play Pocket Full of Kryptonite In Its Entirety, In Williamsburg

spindocs0911.jpg Do you think the Williamsburg population loves the Spin Doctors ironically, or unironically at this point? Like, probably some of the people who moved in to the fancy waterfront condos brought Pocket Full of Kryptonite with them, right? Either way, the Spin Doctors are coming for you, Brooklyn, with a show at Brooklyn Bowl where they'll play that very album in its entirety.

According to The Internet, "The history of the Spin Doctors can be traced back to the late 1980s in New York City, originally as a band called Trucking Company, which included John Popper (!)... the classic line-up was in place by the spring of 1989." A few short years later they were off the map again, having never been able to top their debut album.

Now (well, on October 23rd), you can relive their glory days for the price of $10 to $15. Until that magical evening, let's revisit the hits:

And here they are singing the same songs earlier this month.

Seriously, love thd day-old (or longer) hate; Spin Doctors with Schenkman are quintessiantial 90's pop. Schenkman is the missing link, so thank god he's back! I'd rather they play "Upside Down" but skilled they are.  My office-mate lives by Barron and he preforms still only for the elemenatary students...  what better evidence of the craft... love y'all !   M

A few years ago I saw Spin Docs open for someone. They were a good jam-type band. The difference between them and others of that style is that they managed to get a few hits and actually sell a lot of one record. I remember hearing the first album and liking some songs that weren't even single.

Talk about horrible 90's bands.  Combine them with Hootie and Everclear and you've got the worst songs ever made.

You can honestly type this is in the age of Rebecca Black?

I would only go to see them if they played at Wetlands.

  • You mean, Sweatglands?

  • No joke, my senior year high school yearbook immortalized the Spin Doctors with the stupid class poll that says "Two Princes" was the favorite song.

Us hipsters were just like 5 when that album came out. It was probably one of the first modern rock songs i liked. The video playing nonstop on MTV affected my young mind.

WHAT?  God damn it!  Of all the days to be out of town, auuughauughaugh...

(Seriously, this is not sarcasm, that was a great fucking album.  The insert photo of the band in the tape/CD booklet is very, very representative of the NYC rock club scene at the time.  You can practically smell the boozy wooden bar...)

So this came out when I was in college. It was them, Hootie & the Blowfish, Dave Matthews vs Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Dinosaur Jr, Belly, the Breeders, etc... And these guys are still playing? Could Darwin be wrong?

  • thenab

  • cr17

Isn't there a Horde Festival occurring somewhere in a another galaxy these guys could play at?
