Marine "Corps-Vette" Remembers 9/11 Victims Under The Hood
While passing Battery Park yesterday en route to the 9/11 memorial, this hot little number caught our eye. It's the pet project of former Marine and Evangelist David Sommerdorf, who travels the land in this pimped out '92 "Marine Corps-Vette," teaching Americans to honor their armed forces, the 9/11 victims, and The Lord. The names of all the victims of the attacks are listed under the hood, and the Twin Towers are memorialized on the other side with a "digitally wrapped" illustration. Never forget... to floor it with the top down!
Sommerdorf's home church is Trinity Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, but he'll travel wherever he's called to spread the Good Word. Yesterday he handed out pamphlets explaining the mission, which he describes as reminding Americans "of our Nation's Godly Heritage." The literature also includes this quote from George Washington: "It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor." (And Preserve us from speed traps.)
Our godless secular humanist side wants to know if Sommerdorf obtained the proper permits to station this religious icon on city park property, but the hot-blooded gas-guzzling Amercun in us just wants to get behind the wheel and open this beauty up on the West Side Highway. Here's an informative video about the Corps-Vette entitled A Car, A Country, And A Cross:
