Families Of 9/11 Victims Blast "Ground Zero" Mosque
45-47 Park Place (AP)
Remember the "Ground Zero" mosque—the controversial community and prayer center that will probably never have enough money to be built a couple of blocks from the World Trade Center site? Don't think just because the project is financially stalled that it ain't gonna happen—the Christian Action Network is making sure Americans know that this is still a threat. The group, which states its mission as "protecting America's religious and moral heritage," is releasing a documentary called Sacrificed Survivors: The Untold Story of the Ground Zero Mega-Mosque. And they've rallied the relatives of 9/11 victims to the cause.
At a press conference following a screening of the film yesterday in Washington, D.C., some families of the victims explained their objection to the Park51 project. "They have a legal right to build there. What we are talking about is the moral right," said Alice Hoagland, whose son, Mark Bingham, was part of the group of passengers who fought back on United Flight 93. "We are asking that they show us the respect and build someplace else." Other relatives of the victims spoke out, but perhaps the best quote came from Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.), who hosted the screening.
According to the Daily News, West described the project as "multiculturalism on steroids... If 10 years or 9 years after Pearl Harbor, the county of Japan had come to the United States of America and said, 'We want to erect a memorial to Japanese naval seamanship at Pearl Harbor,' what would we have said?" Following the premise of that analogy, one wonders why Bloomberg is letting these Muslim citizens build their terrorist memorial near 9/11ville?!
On Sunday, a group of mosque opponents will gather to protest at the location, just like last year, when one demonstrator burned a Koran. And here's the trailer for Sacrificed Survivors, which will be screened in NYC through next week. We'd love to tell you where, but The Christian Action Network really needs to update their website, or the terrorists have one.

ALL of our freedom of speech is being violated. Someone wanted to draw a picture of Mohamed, he was threatened with violence, and the government apologized to... the muslims. If you speak out against islam, you are threatened with violence, no freedom of speech there, and absolutely no tolerance, and labeled racist, and intolerant. Islam is using our rights against us, using terms such as "racist", "intolerance" as terror inflicting weapons, and they don't even have to use them. OUR OWN COUNTRYMEN call us racist, ignorant, intolerant... if we say anything about what is happening, the attempt to Islamize the world. WAKE THE HELL UP! Stop defending the people who are trying to take your rights away! They are using our rights against us and everyone, left wing, right wing, wing nuts, needs to be American and stand up for your rights and DEFEND our way of life! DON'T TREAD ON ME! Ladies, like to sunbathe? If radical islam catches too much ground, that might cost you your LIFE. Want to be a christian or jew? buhdist? If radical islam catches too much ground, it might cost you your LIFE! If Sharia law ever manifests here, accept or die, baby. Wanna know what life would be like? look at pakistan, iraq, iran. Is there one church in Saudi Arabia? This is NOT a joke and it IS happening. It is NOT racist or intolerant to want rights, freedom of speech, to speak up, or to notice that our way of life is directly under attack, and to want to stand up for your country. ALL of our freedom of speech is being violated.
Someone wanted to draw a picture of Mohamed, he was threatened with violence, and a mosque was built in a place where radical islamists massacred over 3 thousand people... a victory monument for radical islam, deliberately deceitfully, obscenely and offensively disguised as a tribute to the victims .
And "political correctness" labels those who speak out as racists. They are patriots trying to open a nations eyes who are under attack, and i hope people wake up. I don't want my three children to be persecuted or killed for wanting there hard earned american christian rights.

multiculturalism??????????????? Seriously??????????????????? As a Canadian (born) citizen, for the past 30 yrs, I have celebrated Canadian traditions and events! One of my favourite traditions has always been CHRISTMAS!!!! It's such a happy time, so warm and joyful, it's about the only time in the year when people are genuinely kinder to one another. Now I'm told that it isn't politically correct to say "MERRY CHIRSTMAS", to everyone or anyone more!!!! I'm sorry, are you kidding me? It's acceptance your after?? Well welcome to CANADA, my lifelong home, born and raised! I do not have to change. It is you who has to change, it is your job to adapt. Being a Canadian citizen, I will gladly learn about how things were from once you came, you know the place where you were BORN! Where I wouldn't dream of going to alter your way of life. So do us Canadians a favour and stop bitching about our traditions and our way of life! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just love all the "tolerance and equality and multiculturalism shown on these posts. This is the reason America is in decline.

No more religion!!!!! It is said that money fuels wars. As true as this statement may be, it is not the only culprit! Religion is such a colossal contributor to war, it's not even funny! People turn such a blind eye to religion being an instigator. It is agreed that there is one, single, solitary person in every damn religion, that is on top! He or she or it is the all mighty, the top dog if you will! So if it is all agreed that there is only one powerful all seeing (fill in the blank). Then can I suggest through some sort of universal arbritrary method, we come together as ONE, the entire world and it's inhabitants and we devise a number, a symbol, a word or a syllable, I don't care. This can be arbitrarily concluded as well (haha!) We use (fill in the blank) to talk about every single top dog from every single religion known to man and woman. At this point we can then put to rest any question of what or who this being or non-being is as well as the name of said almighty one. At this point religion should be practiced on a personal level ( ie. Out of the news, out of the public eye {advertisements, public displays etc.}, out of our schools and businesses and most of all out of politics and government! I think this would quell the constant threat of violence and hate in any culture throughout the world due to religious indifferences. I can assure you, if anything created us as a species, whatever the case may be, this and only this, created all of us alike! ALL OF OUR BODIES ARE DERIVED FROM THE SAME CONCEPT! Every last one of us is human, and we all bleed the same coloured blood! The sooner everyone accepts this, the better the entire world will be! Let's start a new world! Let's realize the beauty of our planet, and how we all live off of it the same way! Let's put every brain in the world together! Why do we insist on fighting each other all of the time? The entire world's level of understanding could be so far ahead of anything we've ever known if we would just work together! Forget the past, let's start new! I also think we would benefit as a species more, if we created a new universal language. A language developed to abolish universal misunderstandings. I magine being able to talk to everyone, anyone, with absolutely no barriers! The entire world would benefit!

I'll say the same thing that I say about the WTC "cross": putting up religious symbols or religious buildings near or at the site of a grave religious crime is, to me, mind-boggling.
mistermarkdavis
Finally a low budget documentary about 9/11.
jibbly
For fuck's sake, are we digging up this old acorn again?
It should be titled "People That Don't Understand the Constitution or Religion Want to Block Prayer Room Near the Former Site of the WTC". It's not like the World Trade Center was some kind of religious site. it was the nexus of several organizations that conspired to rob people blind and do it legally. Sure some of the people were nice, but the places they worked for not so much.

The headline seems to imply that every family member and loved one of the 9/11 victims is opposed to this community center. Maybe it should be re-worded to say "SOME Families of 9/11 Victims Blast 'Ground Zero' Mosque"??? This "issue" is SOOOOOO stupid!
It is similar to 9/11 victim families who will not entertain the possibility that the government's official story of 9/11 is not true vs. 9/11 victim families actively calling for new investigations of 9/11.
WTF do the "families of 9/11 victims" have any say in anything, anyway (other than perhaps stuff related to memorial services, the wording of plaques, etc)?
Yes, they suffered a huge loss, but what they deserve is sympathy, not control over public planning ....

you sound extremely insensitive and unpatriotic.... if your loved one died at ground zero because of Muslim terrorist attacks, I'm sure it would kill you to even look at ground zero. Picture how you would feel if other Muslims with the same culture as those whole killed your loved ones and many other Americans built a "community and prayer center" and celebrated their religion there? Why would this even be debated. Ground zero is a place where we need to remember our fellow Americans and celebrate AMERICA'S patriotism.
I'm going to guess these same retards would not have a problem with a Christian church built on Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building site.

That dude wasn't doing in the name of christianity. There is a difference. Also nothing in christianity says kill people to spread your religion. Unfortunately in the koran it does. That doesnt mean they are supposed to but stupid terrorists interpret it that way.
The Quran does not say to kill people to spread your religion. Quite the opposite. "Let there be no compulsion in religion." (2:256) Also it's quite supportive of churches and synagogues, ordering Muslims to protect them.
Christians and Christianity have killed millions spreading their religion all over the world for many centuries. Religious violence is not unique to any religion and we don't need a scorecard to see that it is wrong wherever it happens.

Christianity also has history of killing to spread it. And the Bible itself says to do so: "But he that will be proud, and refuse to obey the commandment of the priest, who ministereth at that time to the Lord thy God, and the decree of the judge, that man shall die, and thou shalt take away the evil from Israel" Deuteronomy 17:12. That's just one example.
Cat1982
Yes, but thats the old testament, which actually, is filled with awful hateful things (But you don't have Jews committing violence bc of that either). Then jesus, the person who actually started Christianity, came along. You won't find a single thing that he says advocating violence. The same cannot be said for Mohammad. That being said, yes many Christians have killed in the name of their religion. Religion in general, especially the big three, seem to be awfully problematic but thats nothing new.
TimeDown
Although infrequent in the New Testament it still appears: "Do not think that I came to bring peace on Earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword." Matthew 10:34.
Cat1982
Its their constitutional right but its in epically bad taste on their part. Basically just trying to stir the pot and that is what i don't like. That and the dude behind it is a sketchy con artist so not exactly the picture of a good person or Muslim for that matter. His background makes me question his motives essentially.
