Another Boob Bust In Times Square!

Body painter Andy Golub has been decorating topless women throughout the city for years while on some sort of quest to make every woman feel like a Thundercats Easter Egg. But there's one rule to getting away with nude painting publicly—always keep your G-string on. And yesterday, one of Golub's models/canvases was briefly arrested in Times Square for that offense. "I don't believe there is truly anything wrong with what I did and with what he was doing," model Zoe West told the Post after her release.

Golub had warned 21-year-old West that the stunt could land her in jail, but she was game. It took over two hours for Golub to paint her in front of spectators at West 44th Street and Broadway; cops then held her for an hour in the nude. "It was wild. I walked into the precinct, and there were about six cops standing behind the counter. Everyone went, 'Whoa! What's this?'" West told the News.

At the end of July, Golub and two completely naked models were briefly arrested on public-lewdness charges in Times Square as well. Golub and West's lawyer defended the art: "New York State Law prohibits public nudity, except if it's part of a play, performance, exhibition or show," said Ron Kuby. West later said cops dropped all charges.

    B@@BIES!!!!

  • Thanks for using my photo. Glad you liked it, Gothamist.

BTW- Seeing a 'blur' on female private parts <-(and now even: the private, private parts of private parts. . .!)  I now find myself getting a 'chubby' whenever I see a 'blur' on Gothamist photos.

It's gotten so. . .-that the other day, while walking on Madison Avenue in a rain storm- a few drops of water got on my eyeglasses causing a 'blur'. . . and OMG- I got a chubby!!  I was so embarrased- I had to quickly run past Park Avenue to get to Lexington Avenue where 'chubbys' are more acceptable!

  • Topfree women are legal in New York state, so why did you feel the need to blur out the model's nipples in the photo? What on earth is so offensive about women's nipples? You don't blur out men's nipples, do you? If it's legal in public, there is no need to censor it on your website.

I've seen some nasty man nipples in public and on the internet. A boob is a boob, if you're a dood and you can comfortably wear a bra... maybe you should keep yer shirt on.

  • If we really need to explain this to you, you shouldn't be on the Internet in the first place.

  • Because despite its legality, many offices frown upon naked boobs, and this post wasn't labeled NSFW.

Gee, is that photoshop? I just thought that Golub did a really really good paint job.

  • "New York State Law prohibits public nudity, except if it's part of a play, performance, exhibition or show" ... i mean in theory that is part of a performance or exhibition.

It's a shame that the NYPD feels the need to stop the glory of women's breasts to be seen by all. If i was a cop i wouldn't arrest a woman for being topless, i'd encourage more women around them to take their tops off as well.

  • Didn't those two cops do that and now they're off the force and were charged with Rape.

  • charged but not convicted - but the department still fired them - might be a civil suit now

  • Dirk

It wasn't the bare boobs that got her arrested.
