At least one person is dead and a dozen injured after a D.C. Trails bus crashed into a tractor-trailer on the southbound NJ Turnpike. The crash occurred north of Interchange 8A - NJ 32 in Monroe around noon. The bus had started in Brooklyn and, after a pitstop in Manhattan, was headed to D.C.,

According to the Star-Ledger, "The wreck was actually the result of two separate crashes, according to Thomas Feeney, a spokesman for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. A tractor-trailer owned by J.B. Hunt Tractor Trailers apparently rear-ended another truck at 11:54 a.m. after the truck slowed because of a stall in traffic on the southbound side of the Turnpike. Seconds later, the tour bus crashed into the back of the tractor-trailer, causing it to 'jackknife,' Feeney said."

The bus had 55 people on it; MyFoxNY said that it appeared the bus driver was stuck. It's believed the driver died and two other passengers were in serious condition.

Two southbound lanes are now closed; a NJ.com commenter lamented, "interchange 8A southbound all the way down to 6 is a death valley... SMH... how many more years of construction for this area to be fixed properly??????? It is nerve wrecking when you enter this death zone.... tooo many people driving reckless and not caring ....SMH"

Is it really that hard to pay attention to what is in front of you? There is always traffic at the merge! Judging by that carnage that bus was hailing ass when it hit the truck.

I hail ass all the time.
