Is Sex And The City Coming Back To The Small Screen?

Is the rumored Sex And The City prequel really being put on hold because the show is returning to television? According to the Daily Mail, producers met in Hollywood last week to discuss bringing the show back.

A source told them, "Ultimately Darren Star—the man who created the hit series—will have the overall say, but everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in. Sarah Jessica Parker will be producing. She was worried about doing another film after the bad reaction to the SATC2 movie, but a TV show is definitely something she wants to happen."

The series ended after six season, in 2004, and the storyline continued in the two movies that followed. Here's the last time we saw Carrie on the small screen:

  • I just paìd $22.85 for an ìPad 2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.78 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $625 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, CentHub.còm

How about we come up with some new ideas?

Im not sure how a TV prequel would work. Since the fans already know whats going to happen in the future, why would they want to watch a  younger version of the characters set in the past stumble through life with less experience? What would be the appeal?

  • Would it be like, "That 90's Show"?

  • jibbly

Makes sense since the early '90s are "coming back" with a vengeance...which also makes sense in the SATC timeline.

Oh, someone pitch a Seattle coffee-shop grunge show! Singles: The Series. I would watch that.

    More Ethan Hawke!

  • jibbly

Can't you imagine the millions of young 20 somethings having the same (in)experience with the city, screaming at their flat screens with their 3 roommates,"OMG, THAT'S JUST LIKE ME!"

    Cha-ching!

  • ANGRYGOD11

But, most fans like to identify with winners. None of the characters in this prequel will get married nor make a lot of money nor become famous. They will just get older and somewhat pathetic.

  • robingee

    And that's Real Life!

  • jibbly

How do you mean?  Within just the prequel or the overall series (I haven't seen the movies)?  Because they all turn out pretty well from what I remember.  This will definitely be a nostalgia trip combined with a How I Met Your Mother sort of vibe, that is to say, young people entering the workforce and "learning".

Um, wait, wasn't this The Devil Wears Prada?

  • ANGRYGOD11

I mean the plot lines must be limited because the viewers already know the ending.
