Bronx Man Leaps In Front Of 2 Train, Knocked Back Onto Platform

A Bronx man who leapt in front of the 2 train in the Bronx yesterday afternoon was knocked from the train back onto the platform and struck a bystander. 42-year-old Louis Schmulson, who reportedly weighed around 300 pounds, jumped in front of the train in an apparent suicide attempt. "I heard a scream and then a crunching sound," a witness told the Post, "It was gory—blood on the platform and on the street."

Schmulson was pronounced dead at Jacobi hospital around 3 p.m. Schmulson worked at a phone store near the Pelham Parkway station where the incident occurred. The female bystander who was hit by him suffered non-fatal injuries.

It's absolutely disgusting that so many of these disgusted comments were written. It's easy to write about someone you don't know. What if it was your sister, brother, mother or father? You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Louis was obviously in such a dark place and now his family is suffering. I find all of you animals a total disgrace. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I hope you never lose a loved one to suicide.

  • 42 years old and working in a phone store, that pretty much says it all, another victim of the economy, no different than bankers jumping on wall st...to bad he couldn't have jumped on to speaker of the house john boehner...we give away billions of dollars to buy friends around the world while our job market is in the toilet...where are you F.D.R. ?

  • Yeah, I'm sure he was trying to put his law degree to good use but nobody was hiring.

Great job...take someone else down in your crazy suicide.

Is it just me or have there been more suicide attempts by train lately?

  • Nah, You're right. Tons of people jumping onto the A train. Soon we might see postal workers going mental and suicidal after all those layoffs!

  • whatidsay

In this particular case, it was only about 1/7th of a ton of people

  • BrassMonkeyBallz

    They're gonna go postal!!

  • ohmygodshutup

The term 'going postal' is specifically derived from postal workers going nuts and shooting people up. You can't pun on something using a term that explicitly describes that which you're referring to.

Getting hit by a 300 pound bloodied and mangled body had to be an ordeal.  It's good that the woman wasn't killed but the implication is still that she was injured. How badly?

  • I live 1 stop away from Pelham Parkway

Yeah it *would* have been sad if his fat ass had managed to derail the train.

  • He was like a big beach ball, and bounced
     right back! haha

  • Your an ignorant heartless person. Louis suffer alot in his short life. He was tormented. Unfortunately he did not seek the help he needed.

  • m015094

Fuck this guy.  He not only endangered the people on the platform with his dead lifeless body being thrown through the air, but he could have derailed the train placing hundreds of lives at risk.

If you're going to kill yourself, at least have the common courtesy not to involve others.

sorry but the headline was a bad choice of words. the man DIED and you want to highlight that he was thrown back onto the platform?!
