Heat Wave Death Toll Climbs To 11

New York's recent heat wave was much more deadly than previously thought. In addition to the previously reported victims of hyperthermia, the city Medical Examiners Office has now announced four more victims, three of whom were in their 30s.

All of the victims had underlying medical conditions that made them more susceptible to hyperthermia. According to the MEs office the additional victims of the initial heat wave were a 30-year-old woman from Queens,a 36-year-old-woman and a 64-year-old woman from Brooklyn. In addition a 33-year-old man from Brooklyn died of hyperthermia on August 1. Besides one 10-year-old, all the previously announced victims had been elderly. This brings the current total to 11.
