10-Year-Old's Photospread In French Vogue Causes Controversy

A French model is causing a stir thanks to a "bad person in the U.S.A."... and also because she's only 10-years-old. Thylane Loubry Blondeau has been posing and posturing amongst the industry's elite, but many think the young girl is being pushed too far, getting a little too grown up for photo spreads in magazines like French Vogue. Lest we forget, Brooke Shields was just 10-years-old when this controversial photo was taken, and that controversy has stuck around for decades. Blondeau's mother Veronika Loubry allegedly defended her daughter on Facebook, saying:

hey guys im the mum of thylane something going ‘s wrong at the moment with thylane and bad personn in usa about pictures she make's 8 months ago for vogue ,,thylane doesn't know about the buzz and i want to protect her from the deapest of my heart ,,, she's so young ,, so we are going to close this accompte for a while ,,i know all of you are good person who like her so i send you a big kiss,,thanks

The Facebook page still appears to be active, however, with plenty of photos of the child acting like an adult. Should 10-year-olds stick to playing dress up?

The fashion industry seems to be getting younger and younger as a whole, with teenagers taking over as designers, fashion writers, and models (Dakota Fanning's 13-year-old sister is the new face of Marc Jacobs). Of course, the fashion industry is teeming with possibly age-inappropriate things like babikinis and padded bras for 7-year-olds, too.

My question is why she's a popular model in the first place -- the above pictures just make her look sort of silly, like a kid wearing her parents' clothes for a joke, the makeup looks out of place and awkward, and she can't pull off the "fashion pout" worth a damn...

It seems like she's sort of a ... novelty model...

If you think the pictures make her look "sort of silly" then you are blind. They make her look incredibly sexy and expose her to the "male gaze" eg. sexual object. The myopia or denial that children do not have sexuality (that myth was debunked years ago) only makes the exploitation of said sexuality more acceptable. If a child does not have sexuality then what is the problem in dressing her up like a sirene? These photos belong on Law & Order, SVU. Our society worships at the throne of youth and sex and now we have 10 year olds fueling the fire. If our society wasn't so rife with pedafiles and child abusers maybe these photos wouldn't be so upsetting. But it is and they are.

Little girls at 10 are painted tastefully as "innocence", because they are never portrayed as sex objects, even painted nude,, because adulthood robs "innocence" from you and it can't be bought, traded or exchanged for any price. Any one whom thinks this is art, cute or even okay with this,lets keep our children far, far awy from you. Lets go back to when 10 yr old children did chores, helped in the cooking and helped share the good and bad things that are the reality of a good life. Not pushing adulthood on them. There are adults out there whom can't handle it, and you want to push them in to that spider web ?
