Smoking Subway Workers DISCIPLINED

081111smoke.jpg

Remember those two hapless MTA workers who got caught on camera taking a smoke break in the subway station at the tail end of a graveyard shift? Last we heard from the MTA, the incident was "under investigation." We recently followed up to determine what ever became of that probe, and this morning we were informed that the two men were in fact taken to the woodshed.

MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz tells us, "The employees have been identified and we have taken disciplinary action." But he declined to elaborate on what form the discipline took, so we can only assume they were forced to smoke an entire carton of cigarettes in one sitting in an attempt to turn them off cigarettes forever. Or perhaps they had to spend an afternoon riding the G line back and forth with tracheotomy smoker Debi Austin? Or even worse: required to sit in a subway station for hours without any nicotine to take the edge off.

  • everyone should smoke in the subway. Smoke smells a lot better than stale vomit, piss, and fecally resplendent homeless people/

Why don't these two get issued summonses like you or I would have been issued?

  • gothamist = snitch.

  • Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

There are many cases where "snitching" is absolutely the right thing to do.

Ok Gothamist.... He's been Disciplined. Now leave him the fuck alone.

Geez John, you would be fit to run a dictatorship with your wild ideas of discipline.  Harsh.

  • i am under the general opinion that if you are working the graveyard shift, you should be able to smoke where you please.

  • But fortunately you're not in charge.

i would absolutely complain if this was during normal hours. these two guys are doing a graveyard shift and look absolutely beat. yeah i hate the MTA union assholes as much as the next guy but this graduate of the School of Master Douchery who took the video also deserves a "disciplinary action". hopefully someone will smoke cigarettes within close proximity of him everywhere he goes.

  • cool

could you be a little more specific?

I'm gathering the disciplinary action went something like this:  "Guys, don't do that again, hah?" (Archie Bunker voice)
