A Queens high school teacher was arrested today for allegedly having sex with her 16-year-old student earlier this year. According to the Nassau County police, Tara Driscoll, 33, drove the boy to the Capri Motel in Lynbrook and "engaged in sexual relations with the victim."

Driscolll, who teaches Campus Magnet High School in Cambria Heights, turned herself in to police this morning. Police were tipped off after the boy's mother found out and confronted him (he confessed). Det. Vincent Garcia told Newsday, "We believe it to be a one-time deal. She picked him up on the day and they drove" to the motel after meeting somewhere in Queens.

Driscoll was charged with third-degree rape and criminal sexual act. She has not been suspended by the Department of Education yet.

I never had any teachers like that when I was growing up.

Rape? No. With her career choice, I'd say this was the greatest sex ed class ever!

  • Wow! These cougars are out of control!!!!

She didnt care how old he was whenshe was getting hit with the. Big ole roll of black tarpaper

  • If convicted, she should get whatever sentence a man guilty of the same crime would get.

Castrate this rapist! Oh, it was a female? I meant niiiicccce.

  • Flaco, I don't think so. I had to wait until 19. You know what? No big deal. The earth still below and the sky still above. Endulging in the fantasies of 15-18 year old males is not mature. It's not what adults do. Adults do the right thing, and they do it despite what their feelings are on the matter. If you happen to be a teacher, or anyone in authority, be it a marine drill instructor or a supervisor, it is wrong to use that power to seduce those under you. It's wrong. Period. There are billions of people in the world millions of which would probably be a suitable mate. Literally.

Get real, people. This broad's at least an 8 on the high-school teacher scale. Let's drop the highfalutin ethical debate and meditate on the fact that Ms. Driscoll's 16-year-old victim has lived out the fantasy of 99.9% of straight, adolescent males in this country. And I think every straight, 20- and 30-something male who read this article took a moment to give mental-props to Mr. Victim, and furthermore felt a tinge of sadness upon hearing that this woman, this saint who gave herself up to the overactive libido of a horny teenager, has been dubbed a rapist. The prayers of that 16-year-old boy within all of us should be with Ms. Driscoll. And, as we all bed down tonight, many of us with significant others of similar age and social position, may we close our eyes and believe for just one moment, that somewhere, in some alternate universe, it was us.

  • Regardless whether this boy enjoyed the sex and will look back fondly on the experience, it's totally inappropriate. Teachers are in a position of authority over their students. To permit it invites all manner of abuse. I do believe kids should be allowed to have consentual sex, but with their peers not with adults who are 17 years their seniors.

If you can't trust an adult to keep his or her mouth shut about an affair/fling/liaison then how can one expect a 16 year old to do so. Self-preservation says don't do it (even if you really, really want to).

It's a teenage boy's dream to have sex with a mature and sexy woman like
this teacher, it's a good experience for him and definitely strengthens
    his character and personality.

The 16 year old surely is a very happy boy and will remember that nice incident all his life as the best things happened to him!!

The society is crazy nowadays, very backward-thinking with stupid, illogical rules.

Any person who has reached puberty should be allowed to have consensual sex, which was this case.

  • SpeciousPlans

    Never mind.

  • Archie1954

Some victim! I doubt very much that he stays awake at night worrying about his rendevouz. Why not spend policing time, energy and money where a real crime has been committed.

  • felixthecat

Teacher is too dumb. Since when do you take an underage to a motel? That is a dead giveaway.

  • His mom had to go and ruin a good thing. I feel like my dad would've probably been proud.

  • jisnotused

I think this kind of news is the only kind of news that recurs every. single. forkin. day.

  • What a shame, another hot teacher bites the dust. All because of a tight assed society. I guess seeing the US can't touch pedo-priests, they go after the next best thing.

  • angry_pickle

If the teacher is hot, it is ok?  But if she was ugly, it is not ok?

Teachers should not be allowed to have sex with their students.  Just as parents should not be allowed to have sex with their children.

  • LiberalGirl

It would be a conflict of interest.  But, if the student did not take the teacher's class, then it's all fair game.

HEY NOW let's not be hasty!
