Jose Reyes is still a Met and the Yankees didn't make a July trade for the first time since 1999. On the field, the Yankees won 4-2 to finish their homestand 7-3. All the runs came in the fourth with Brett Gardner providing the big hit, a three-run triple. Feddy Garcia earned his 10th win and Mariano earned his 27th save.

Scott Hairston homered to tie the game in the 9th, but Bobby Parnell couldn't keep things there. He allowed a single and a walk to start the 9th and then, after getting an out, wild pitched the runners to 2nd and 3rd. A deflected ball brought the winning run home and the Mets fell 3-2.

The Red Bulls tied Arsenal 1-1 to clinch the Emirates Cup in London. Since Thierry Henry helped the Red Bulls with the victory and since he used to play for Arsenal, the crowd was booing lustily.

Not one MLB team is running away with its division and its August. No wonder few teams are willing to trade.
