Al Pacino's Daughter Julie Arrested For DWI At West Houston St. Checkpoint

The 21-year-old daughter of Al Pacino was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs and alcohol at around 1:20 a.m. in Manhattan this morning. According to the Daily News, Julie Pacino, who was pulled over at a West Houston Street checkpoint, allegdly told cops, "Yes I was drinking. I had about three beers and I smoked weed at home. That was a few hours ago."

Apparently the police pulled her over because her California license plates had an expired registration. The criminal complaint says that Pacino, who had a male passenger in the car, had "watery and bloodshot eyes, had slurred speech and had the odor of an alcoholic beverage on [her] breath" and blew a 0.12 blood alcohol on a Breathalyzer (0.08 is the legal limit). She was released without bail and her lawyer said, "She doesn't have anything to say right now."

Pacino is the daughter of the acting legend and acting coach Jan Tarrant. She went to Tappan Zee High School and played softball at UCLA and her player bio says, "her biggest athletic thrill as making the state Final Four in 2006 ... admires New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter ... favorites include the television show "The Office", actor Brad Pitt, the movie "Superbad" and musical group Red Hot Chili Peppers ... hobbies include watching movies with her best friend ... majoring in english with a career goal of becoming a filmmaker."

Last year, beloved Giants quarterback Phil Simms' son, Chris Simms, was arrested at the West Houston Street checkpoint and charged with driving while stoned; he went to trial and was acquitted.

Pacino is not an uncaring jerk. I remember Julie as a baby. Non-celebrity kids do stupid shit too, you know. It just doesn't hit the news, but this shit happens every day.

Celebrity children can be cursed. Addiction and criminal behavior are screams in the night, usually unheard. As long as they don't OD or jump off a bridge, there is a chance that they can be brought to some legitimacy. They can do damage to the parents, which is probably their intent. I somehow get the feeling that Al Pacino is an uncaring jerk.
