All the weather action for the next few days is going to happen this afternoon and evening. A warm front is moving through the area right now and a cold front is not too far behind. Lots of humidity, unstable air and a push from the cold front will bring on the showers and thunderstorms. It won't be a widespread rainfall but where it does rain the storms could be severe. Today's high largely depends on how much the sky clears this afternoon. With plenty of sun we should reach the upper 80s to lower 90s.

The chance of rain will quickly drop once the cold front passes overnight. The dry air mass behind the front means that July will end on a sunny, dry and warm note. Through yesterday the average temperature of the month was 80.2 degrees. With highs around 90 and lows in the lower 70s for both Saturday and Sunday, this month will probably squeak by as only the 8th month since 1870 to be at least 80 degrees.

August begins with a return to muggy weather. The start of next week should be warm and humid with highs near 90 each day. Maybe by late next week we'll see some moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Don, which is hitting Texas today.
