"Intense Odor Of Raw Marijuana" Leads To Huge Pot Bust In Jersey

Chalk up another victory in the War on Drugs: 130 pounds of high-grade marijuana with a street value of $650,000 was seized by plainclothes DEA agents trailing two cars with New York plates in Westwood, New Jersey last night. Gee, a couple more big busts like these and victory over drugs will be all but assured! The key to winning this particular battle was apparently the contraband's odor; a Bergen County police chief tells NJ.com, "officers detected a very intense odor of raw marijuana inside one of the vehicles."

Police Chief Frank Regino says that after receiving a tip about "suspicious vehicles," officers pulled over a gray Chevrolet Impala and a trailing car. Regino tells the Cliffview Pilot, "Neither driver could give a good account of what they were doing in the area." The two women in the vehicles reportedly came from an area 10 miles south of Canada, which is a source of some really primo weed, at least that's what we've heard from those Christmas tree salesmen who come to NYC every year.

Officers found the huge stash of British Columbian pot packaged in heat-sealed, one-pound bundles. Julie T. Ruben, 50, of Winthrop, N.Y., and 47-year-old Janine M. Murray of Brasher Falls are being held in Bergen County jail on $150,000 cash bail each. They're both charged with first degree possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and second degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1000 feet of a school zone.

  • Then pull them over in a school zone.....can you say "entrapment."
A law graduate could spring them and sue the DEA agents.
They should just drop the charges.

  • I heard they the bond is 150K cash...so they can find out who will bring the cash.
All they need to do is get good lawyer and fight it.
The package was vacuumed sealed and they could smell it??????
    DEA are not very creative.

  • yea its a crime to smoke weed, but yall can just keep on smoking those cigarettes and drinking the alcohol that is killing you. that's such bull.war on drugs is a joke. the government put most of the drugs on the street, get paid for that, then bust us for having them and get paid again. its just crooked uncle sam getting over on all of the blind idiots of the country. wake up.

The one on the left just looks so hapless. I want to give her a hug. Maybe a Nilla Wafer. This story makes me sad.

  • ONE_LESS_FIXED_GEAR

Hapless.  That's a pretty good word for it.  I'd add vacuous and moronic.  The one on the right looks like a meth-head.  I myself don't do drugs, so I don't really give too much of sh** about them.  I'm fairly certain they are aware of the fact that what they were doing is illegal, yet they did it anyway.  And there you have it.

     HA!

This is not a victory in the war on drugs. It is a loss. Two non violent people are now going to jail. They will have acts of violence commited on to them. Though they have not commited a violent act themselves. This abuse must be stopped, we must end the drug war. This time two people you don't know were affected. Next time it could be you!

" second degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 1000 feet of a school zone"  - the only thing dangerous about marijuana is that it threatens big pharma, alcohol companies, and the government's control.

what a victory. Two hardened criminals off the "streets."
What a joke. Our country is at war with its own citizens. drugs are inanimate objects who do not wage war.  I personally am sick of black clad, armored, automatic weapon packing storm troopers. Cops are suppose to be a civil servant, not paramilitaty thug goon squad like Latin America or Stalinist Russia. Our prisons are over flowing. we need regime change.

    cool story bro

well, the "war on drugs" is a scam. a lot of people are making tons of money off this so-called war. Not to mention these women will also be taxed out the ass for the supposed income the pot would have generated. And don't even get me started on the prison system in the US. The prison system here is no more than a way for corporations to have a legal slave labor force. In addition, a US prison, on average, gets more government funding than the majority of public schools. And people wonder why this country is getting  dumber, while our prisons are filling up.

    fukt

Wait, the picture on the left is a woman?  She looks like a man, man.

What the hell is "raw" marijuana?
