Yesterday morning, after a 3-year-old boy was found wandering by himself in Battery Park City's Teardrop Park, the police scrambled to find a relative, distributing his photograph to the media, because the boy couldn't tell the police his name or any identifying information. Now, the boy's been identified... and his mother is in a hospital.

Relatives in NJ called police to identify him (police were reportedly going to speak to them last night). According to the Daily News, cops found his mother in the psych ward, "The 20-year-old mother, whose name was not released, is in Bellevue Hospital, where she had been admitted as an emotionally disturbed person." It's unclear whether she was placed there before the boy was found (which is what the Post's sources suggest) or if the cops tracked her down yesterday and then took her to the hospital.

Trevon had Chicken McNuggets at Tribeca's police stationhouse (he was also "calmed down" with a Giants blanket), and the News says he was taken into temporary foster care, "About 8:45 p.m. workers from the Administration for Children's Services took him from the stationhouse with a blanket over his head to shield him from TV news cameras waiting outside."

Twenty year-old with a 3 year-old kid who can't even say his own name and address. What a world!

Was this the kid of the flight attendant that tried to kill herself?

  • ONE_LESS_FIXED_GEAR

Lucky kid.  Fortunately he was spotted by a sane, responsible individual, apparently.

  • Thank goodness he was found by the right people. Hopefully he can get the support he needs.

What a beautiful kid.  I hope he gets dealt a better hand that he's had the first three years of his life.

    Piercing a three year-old boy's ear.  Great.

Yes, that's nice, but how about a little less "my kid LOOKS good" and a little more "my kid is fed and well cared for?"

  • Spirit of 76

What, no other body piercings or full-body tattoos? If you're going to be kewl before pre-school, you really should go all the way.
