Last Night's Action: Two Of Three

The Yankees earned a split with Toronto and more importantly, got a big start from Phil Hughes as they rolled to a 7-2 win. Hughes earned his first win of the year with six innings of two-run ball. He walked two and struck out five. Brett Gardner set the table by reaching base four times and Curtis Granderson had three RBI's.

Mike Pelfrey got knocked around and the Mets dropped the rubber game of their series with the Phillies 8-5. The Mets actually trailed 8-1 at one point, but made things interesting with a three-run eighth and a run in the 9th, but they couldn't get the tying run to the plate.

New York shot 52% from the field and held Tulsa to only six points in the third quarter as they won easily 88-57.

Since there are plenty of teams around here known as "New York", it'd be helpful to give the name of the particular team your talking about.

  • The Liberty, who are temporarily playing in Newark, New Jersey. It would help them if they had a TV contract or if MSG broadcast games.

You really can't figure it out? I've always thought you were one of the smart ones on this site.

Of course I figured it out, and I almost always click through to source articles when I read here anyway so I know the real story.

But come on. It's a pretty basic principle in sportswriting.

That wasn't for me, anyway. My goal here is to help the confused masses.

That could be a full time job on this site.
