Accused Killer Of Brooklyn Boy Confesses: "I Panicked... I'm Sorry For Hurt I Have Caused"

The accused killer of the 8-year-old Hasidic boy whose body was found dismembered in two separate areas of Brooklyn this week has given cops a written confession of the murder. Levi Aron, who turned 35 yesterday, was officially charged by police last night with murdering Leiby Kletzky. Read the chilling confession (which has been edited only to remove "parts of an extremely graphic nature") below the jump:

My name is Levi Aron... On Monday evening around 5:30 I went to my dentist, Dr. Sorcher, to make a payment for visit for exam routine.

A boy approached me on where the Judaica book store was. He was still there when went out from the dentist’s office. He asked me for a ride to the Judaica book store. While on the way he changed his mind and wasn’t sure where he wanted to go.

So I asked if he wanted to go for the ride -- wedding in Monsey -- since I didn’t think I was going to stay for the whole thing since my back was hurting. He said ok.

Due to traffic, I got back around 11:30 p.m. … so I brought him to my house thinking I’d bring him to his house the next day. He watched TV then fell asleep in the front room. I went to the middle room to sleep. That next morning, he was still sleeping when I was ready to leave.

So I woke him and told him I’ll bring him to his house… when I saw the flyers I panicked and was afraid. When I got home he was still there so I made him a tuna sandwich....

Afterwards -- I panicked because I didn’t know what to do with the body.… carried parts to the back room placing parts between the freezer and the refrigerator …

… went to clean up a little then took a second shower. I panicked and .. Then putting the parts in a suitcase. Then carrying suitcase to the car …placing in backseat on floor behind passenger side.

… drove around approximately around 20 minutes before placing it in the dumpster on 20th street just before 4th Avenue. Then went home to clean and organize.

I understand this may be wrong and I’m sorry for the hurt that I have caused.

Leiby had been walking home from day camp to meet his parents on Monday, but got lost. The child asked Aron for directions, and police believe that Aron then convinced Leiby to get in his car, a 1990 Honda. When police tracked down Aron, through his dentist, the suspect was in a third floor apartment in a Kensington building owned by his father. When cops asked, "Where's the boy?" Aron reportedly nodded towards his refrigerator, which was bloody. The freezer contained Leiby's feet, and a cutting board and butcher knives were nearby.

In addition to the written one above, Aron also gave a video-taped confession in which he was unemotional and deadpan: "He spoke matter of factly. He was not crying or anything like that," a source told the News. Aron, who lived in Tennessee before moving to NYC, was a delivery driver for a Brooklyn maintenance supply business. The owner of the Empire Supply hardware warehouse in Kensington where Aron worked implied that he was mentally "slow," while others succinctly described him as a "loner."

Aron's ex-wife, who still lives in Tennessee, told the Post she couldn't believe what had happened, and had just talked to him a few days ago: "I am in shock. I am not believing this. He loved children. He loved kids. My kids are now 13 and 10, but when we were married they were younger - and he loved them," said Debbie Kivel. She said this was "totally out of character," and Aron was a hard worker who "never had a problem with anyone."

The two, who met on a Jewish matchmaking site, separated after one year, and officially divorced after two due to what she calls "a clash of character." But her father was less diplomatic in describing his former son-in-law: "He was creepy person. I gather he went to the Hebrew School, but wasn’t smart enough and dropped out."

What is really upsetting is that this psychopath, sociopath, will probably plea insanity & get off with a slap of the wrist & some psych ward time.. this system better work for this poor innocent boy. This man deserves to die the same death.

i just filled out an application at rikers.  i'm looking to get a position in the letha injection department so i can hit this guy up myself.  finger's crossed.

  • I'm not buying this "confession". He didn't panic. This guy could hold down full time jobs, he knows/knew what he was doing. Seems like a cover-up on his part. He's being mum on the real reasons and I'm certain he won't be pressed further than what's written on this confession.

  • You racist moronic fool Kao!

  • I don't believe the 'wedding story' either; how many police officers must he have passed on the way there....just not kosher (no pun intended). Why not walk back in to the dentist's office and ask to use the phone? I also believe the ex-wife is deluded....she indicates how completely normal he is yet, they separated after a year.....I think she is trying to rationalize having married this monster.
Oh also, God does exist.....God allows humanity to make choices as well--it's called free will; some of us merely exercise it better than others, obviously.

  • My guess is  Levi Aron, the killer suffers from a severe mental illness and has had this mental illness for quite some time, but his illness was   ignored.

  • Steve Horowitz

gee, i think you're pretty safe with that diagnosis there doc.

  • If it was a black he would say he was reminded of slavery or was called the n-word.
If it was a gay he would say he was violated by a priest and was traumatized.
If it was a jew he would say he panicked and suffered a genetic memory from the Holocaust.

Anytime someone from a so called "protected class" commits a horrendous crime we can expect an avalanche for excuses of them. It could never be that these people might actually be just plain evil. Nope. Blame it on the weather, fate, mental illness, poverty, etc. whatever dumb excuse you want. Meanwhile nobody could care less about the young victim now that its known he is dead. Shame on all of you.

  • Steve Horowitz

sometimes its good to just think these things briefly, if you must, rather than actually type it out in the public domain.  we hear ya, but you're off on this one.  there are more people banged up about the kid than in most crimes i can remember in recent history.  if you have a heart, its pretty tough to process some freak that would harm any child looking for help.  this is the lower form of human life on the planet and people get it.  if you look closely, everyone is pretty much together and in agreement on this...sounds like you are focused on lots of other sh*.

  • Really, Kao and exactly what would your group claim?  Aron Levi is Jewish you moron....i

  • Steven Bannister

His group would claim psychological trauma from watching Mr Yunioshi in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

  • earwicker

No one said anything about genetic memories from the Holocaust.  What the hell are you talking about?  Obviously plenty of people care about the boy.  Shame on YOU for making things up.

  • They have a term for that. It's called "survivor's guilt."

And although that hasn't been mentioned in this particular case. Some Israelis are using this to extort more reparations from Germans that had nothing to do with the Holocaust.

  • Jon Bernstein

I'm sure they are, but what's that got to do with this? There are no Israelis or Germans in this story, it has nothing to do with the Holocaust or with reparations.  Why bring it up?  Just because the people happen to be Jewish? That's kind of messed up.

  • zombiebob

I feel strangely sorry for the guy and his family, but MUCH more sorry for the child and his. F-ud up how a little twist of fate can lead one down a terrible path. Think of all the little coincidences that made it possible for the child to end up as he did...  To a certain extent I'm a believer in pre-destination/fate/destiny yadda yadda... brings up many terrible questions and many worse possible answers.

  • Rocknrope

You feel sorry for this guy?  Please enlighten me on what makes you feel sympathetic towards him?

  • Nothing about his story makes sense to me. Something is missing. It just doesn't scan.

  • theevilerone

Where's Jack Ruby when you need him?

  • bggb

He had to have been on anti-psych meds which he stopped taking.

  • ONE_LESS_FIXED_GEAR

    There's the defense, right there.
