Video: A Wine Rack...For Your Bike

201107_bikewine.jpg

Bicycles are great and all but baskets looks a little silly and in this heat backpacks just mean more back sweat. So what to do when you want to go for a ride but don't want to leave your bottle of red behind? There's an Etsy shop for that.

The Bicycle Wine Rack only fits 1" frames and only carries one bottle of a time, but it does exactly what its name implies and can handle three different bottle sizes between your legs while you bike around town. It is made with leather and, until demand got too high, antique brass hardware. It costs $30 Canadian (or $32 US). Now if only someone would make a bicycle wineglass holder for our handlebars.

Don't really believe that little bit o' leather will hold you precious wines safe? The rack's makers have made a video to prove it:

If you're going to be drinking warm wine anyway why not use a bottle which wont shatter all over the pedestrian-way you'll no doubt be portaging over when you drop your bike or just bursh it against a stairwell as you carry your steel framed fossil up the stairs because you have nowhere to put a lock on that rig? Are you really such a Dandy you need leather accessories but your sticking your U down your pants anyway?

A good pannier is insulated & covered so people wont mistake you for a self-indulgant attention whore who enjoys being seen making a big production about drinking in public out of the bottle.

You need a separate holder for your Frisbee, it looks like.

  • I sometimes just stick one in my regular bottle bracket. Stretches it out a little, but works reasonably well for puttering to the local French resto.

  • Did you know a frisbee can hold 5 1/2 cans of beer?

hahah, have we stooped to the point of advertising products by making it look like you are putting up a post about the item?!?!?

My friend bought one a while back and the quality was a little low (for what you are buying) and it did not work as well as you would think... I think a basket is a better idea.

Seriously what is the purpose of this post, some hippie in California bolted some leather strips together so you can hold a wine bottle on your fixie...are you kidding?

    they're from Montreal

Was not aware that the Quebecois drank wine out of frisbees.  Good to know.

  • Gwinny

yes, it airs out the wine nicely due to increased surface volume.

  • guestymcspanky

Pointless and idiotic.  Get a damn basket.  Then you can carry wine AND glasses and not be forced to drink out of a frisbee.

  • Gwinny

Serious cyclists don't have baskets. They ruin the lines of a bike and aren't aerodynamic.

However, this wine rank isn't for serious cyclists either.
