Stun guns are the new thing to attempt to bring onto planes! While the Transportation Security Administration somehow missed a stun gun that was found on a Jet Blue plane at Newark (the plane came in from Boston), screeners did find two stun guns in one passenger's luggage at JFK Airport. The passenger's reasoning: He didn't know they were illegal to carry on and, plus, he wanted to bring them to his relatives in Greece.
The Post reports, "Othon Mourkakos, 53, a restaurateur from Alpine, NJ, was busted as he waited to catch a Lufthansa Airlines flight for Frankfurt, Germany, the sources said. Transportation Security Administration screener Romane Romain noticed the stun guns in a suitcase during an X-ray and physical bag search, according to a criminal complaint." Mourkakos allegedly said, "I didn't know it was illegal in New York." People, check the TSA's list of prohibited items!
As for the incident of the stun gun that did make it on the Boston-Newark flight (a cleaning crew found it in a back pocket), the FBI doesn't think it was going to be used in a fight/attack.
