Lawsuits: the American way
The litigious Yoko Ono is once again trying to protect her late husband's name, by suing a Lennon-themed bar in Scotland. According to NME, Ono has threatened to sue the bar's owner, Mike Craig, for copyright infringement, and her lawyer has already been in touch.

Craig says he's spent a lot of money on Beatles memorabilia for his pub, named Lennons, that Ono now wants removed from the bar within the next 14 days! She would also like the name to be changed during that time frame. Craig says, "It's ridiculous. The pub’s been called Lennons for about five years, but the signs will be removed this week."

In 2008 Ono threatened to sue performer Lennon Murphy for performing under her late husband's name, which incidentally, was all the performer's birth name!

...it's not like she thought her husband's last name was important enough for her to take it when they were married...

Is it true that she tried to sue Julian Lennon for using John's last name?

What a fucking useless leech she is.  Change the name of the bar to, "Bloodsucking Japanese Whore."

    They could rename it "Lenins".

  • or they could call it "Yoko eats bag of dicks"

"In 2008 Ono threatened to sue performer Lennon Murphy for performing under her late husband's name, which incidentally, was all the performer's birth name!"

Not what happened, as the linked article says (with more details at a secondary link from there).

Reports were that she was threatening to sue, but in fact she (Lennon Murphy) requested permission to perform under the name and Yoko didn't object. Later, the singer filed a trademark request with the US Patent and Trademark office, seeking exclusive use of the name "Lennon" for music performances in the US.

Yoko and her legal team objected to that filing, in USPTO challenge. That doesn't take a lawsuit, so none was threatened.

  • that's ridiculous as well anyway. just because her late husband who was famous had a certain last name, doesn't mean she should be able to block anyone else with a similar name. Especially since her husband's LAST name was Lennon..and never got it trademarked as a single use name..whereas this new person..well it's their first name and I'd say they're in their own rights to do whatever they want without having to be lambasted by her.

  • I'm no fan of Yoko, but she's not trying to block anyone from using that name.  That goth chick wanted the EXCLUSIVE use of that single word name, which Yoko objected to.

  • She is a real-life troll. The type who sticks a knife in your ball cause it rolled into her yard.

Yoko can go ahead and eat an entire bag of dicks.
