Is it true that she tried to sue Julian Lennon for using John's last name?

Reports were that she was threatening to sue, but in fact she (Lennon Murphy) requested permission to perform under the name and Yoko didn't object. Later, the singer filed a trademark request with the US Patent and Trademark office, seeking exclusive use of the name "Lennon" for music performances in the US.

Yoko and her legal team objected to that filing, in USPTO challenge. That doesn't take a lawsuit, so none was threatened.

that's ridiculous as well anyway. just because her late husband who was famous had a certain last name, doesn't mean she should be able to block anyone else with a similar name. Especially since her husband's LAST name was Lennon..and never got it trademarked as a single use name..whereas this new person..well it's their first name and I'd say they're in their own rights to do whatever they want without having to be lambasted by her.

I'm no fan of Yoko, but she's not trying to block anyone from using that name.  That goth chick wanted the EXCLUSIVE use of that single word name, which Yoko objected to.
