Brooklyn IHOP Has Zero Tolerance For Dine And Ditchers

july6ihop.jpg
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!

Pancake lovers: do not, we repeat, do not attempt to dine and ditch at that gold standard of global breakfast cuisine, IHOP. Because you will get busted, as these two ladies learned the hard way at the Downtown Brooklyn flapjack emporium this weekend.

Tashanna Davis, 23, and Virginia Monger, 22, allegedly settled in for an early-morning pit stop at the IHOP at 267 Livingston St around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, and proceeded to "scarf down a smorgasbord of breakfast," which came to a total of $46.85. They tried to pay just $30, complaining that the service wasn't up to par (yes, really, the service). Cops were called, and the two were promptly charged with theft of services, and Monger racked up additional charges for resisting arrest and attempted assault—but really, you too would resist arrest if you were being arrested for dining and ditching at an IHOP.

Apparently, New Yorkers are all about pulling the old skipperoo on the check these days, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise. We only hope that the impending East Village IHOP takes the necessary precautions against dastardly Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity robbers.

a friend of mine got shot and killed by an off duty cop working security at an IHOP in Virginia. allegedly he and his friends skipped out on the bill. ALLEGEDLY. I never found out what really happened. But I'm sure the cost of an IHOP meal was not worth losing one's life over...in fact now the laws for shooting at vehicles in that city have been amended and the police dept got sued big time, and lost their case for once. cop is of course still working though and didn't get anything but administrative leave.

    something about IHOP..

  • I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, LiveCent.com

They did NOT dine and ditch... they dined and .. negotiated?

If they just ran out they would have saved the $30 AND the hassle

  • What ever happened to just having to wash the dishes?

  • For what it's worth the service at that IHOP *is* horrific.

  • Detex

    so don't go.

I walk by this IHOP all the time, and it's usually packed. It always amazes me because I've checked out the menu and the prices are ridiculous. $9-10 for the same shitty breakfast you could get at any bodega or diner nearby for $5.

  • they don't have Bodega's in Indiana

  • angry_pickle

How many pounds of food do you get for $46 at IHOP?  You can eat breakfast at Whole Foods for $9/lb.

  • devonbanks

...and for the same awesome breakfast you could make at home for $4!

  • Unkle_Bob

You checked out the menu? So you haven't actually eaten there? So how do you know it's the same shitty breakfast?

  • wss233

You're right I totally jumped to conclusions there. I'm sure fucking Ihop on Fulton mall is some gourmet shit. I should not make assumptions. My bad.
