Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
Pancake lovers: do not, we repeat, do not attempt to dine and ditch at that gold standard of global breakfast cuisine, IHOP. Because you will get busted, as these two ladies learned the hard way at the Downtown Brooklyn flapjack emporium this weekend.
Tashanna Davis, 23, and Virginia Monger, 22, allegedly settled in for an early-morning pit stop at the IHOP at 267 Livingston St around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, and proceeded to "scarf down a smorgasbord of breakfast," which came to a total of $46.85. They tried to pay just $30, complaining that the service wasn't up to par (yes, really, the service). Cops were called, and the two were promptly charged with theft of services, and Monger racked up additional charges for resisting arrest and attempted assault—but really, you too would resist arrest if you were being arrested for dining and ditching at an IHOP.
Apparently, New Yorkers are all about pulling the old skipperoo on the check these days, so this doesn't come as much of a surprise. We only hope that the impending East Village IHOP takes the necessary precautions against dastardly Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity robbers.
