Woman Sues State For Calling Her Imprisoned Brother An "Inmate"

There are plenty of things to be upset about if a family member is in jail—knowing that the person caused suffering in some way, the horrible color schemes of prison jump suits, etc. Marie Domond isn't upset about any of that, or the fact that her brother Gerard Domond is serving 25 years to life for murdering someone. She's mad that her brother is sometimes referred to as an "inmate." So she's suing.

According to the lawsuit that Domond is bringing against New York Correctional Services Department, she doesn't like the word because it "implies that our brother is locked up for the purpose of mating with other men." Apparently Domond is okay with her brother being known for shooting another man in the head, but there is no way she's letting anyone think that Gerard Domond is gay. It seems gay marriage being legalized hasn't opened the minds of everyone yet.

"It's [the word inmate] something that's bothered me for a long time," Domond explained to The New York Post. "I couldn't understand why no one recognized that somebody being labeled an inmate, why they wouldn't recognize that. To me it just sounded very wrong."

Domond, who is (of course) acting as her own lawyer, is seeking $50 million in damages for "mental anguish." No word on if she'll spilt any of those potential winnings with those who have read about her crusade.

    ...
How did I miss this Gem of a Story?!?!?

If the Judge does NOT throw this out immediately, that judge is crazy...

'Inmate' doesn't imply that he was locked up to mate with other men, duh. It implies that he was locked up to mate with inns, which is even worse. Having woken up many a time to the deep shame as I tried to pick pieces of potpourri out of my hair and cleanse myself of the disgusting scent of maple syrup, I think her lawsuit is just.
Although it could be worse, it could be MotorLodgeMate.

I think the phrase "What a dumb bitch" pretty much is all that need be said about this dumb bitch.

Also, she should have to pay for any court costs associated with this utter waste of time. This idiot is too stupid to understand a word and her reaction is to sue...too bad her brother didnt accidentally shoot her instead.

What's in a name? that which we call a shit
    By any other name would smell as foul;
So Gerard would, were he not Gerard called,
retain that cruel vileness which he owns
    without that title.

  • Ragingsemi

    I'm sorry...what?

  • FU Boy

It simply means that no matter what we call him, his nature will not change.  Whatever word you want to call him doesn't change the fact that he's a murderer in prison.

Ever read or see Romeo and Juliet?  And, sadly, I will accept the Leo DiCaprio version as a valid version.

Maybe the state can settle with Ms. Domond and award her twenty bucks so she can buy herself a dictionary.

  • FU Boy

Maybe a complimentary library card and boot in the ass would suffice.

    inmate

OH SHIT, NOW I'VE REALLY DONE IT.

  • TheOtherBob

Yeah, this is bad.  But in the grand scheme of "bad shit this family has done," it really doesn't even rate.  I mean, yeah, the dude's wasting a few bucks of our tax money -- but that's not why he's an asshole.  (Or, at least, not the FIRST reason he's an asshole.)

By the way, I didn't need to hear the word "inmate" to know that this guy has sex with dudes...

  • m015094

    Yup, she's Black.

  • robingee

    oh, shut up

  • But you know it's not racist because he capitalized the word "black"!

  • robingee

Oh like it's a proper name! I see! Ms. Black.

  • m015094

I've become more racist since I moved to NYC 2 years ago.  Unfortunately, the stereotypes are there because they are true.  If you deny that, you are ignorant.

  • Ragingsemi

They don't have black people where you come from?

  • Elderta2

Apparently not. Nor do they have people who can properly use the words "is" or "are." What a shame it is about those ignorant fools, too.
