Elderly Man Arrested For Flashing Says He Was Peeing

On Wednesday, police arrested 71-year-old Pedro Reyes for allegedly exposing himself in Central Park to two little girls; one seven, one eight. Cops snatched the supposed elderly exposer and charged him with public lewdness, exposure and endangering the welfare of a child.

Reyes' lawyer—who was court-appointed, so maybe this was the best defense he could come up with—said that his client wasn't exposing himself to the girls, he just had to pee really badly. This despite police saying that Reyes motioned to the girls during the incident.

Ah, the ol' "You kids who have no reason to lie have confused my urination in a public park for exposing myself!" defense. Maybe other alleged exposers should tweak that line of reasoning and use it as well.

"Reyes' lawyer—who was court-appointed, so maybe this was the best defense he could come up with".....WTF Gothamist? So only washouts are public defenders? They are the ONLY lawyers I have any respect for...shame on you!

Look kids, it's the Whizzer of Oz!     Yeah, I know, it's pervy to down-trou to youngsters, so don't start a flame war.

You know, I'm a little indifferent on this one...

Every guy in here at one time or another has found an out of the way tree/ wall/ alleyway to pee on when he had to go, and a bathroom just wasn't close enough.  In the city, in the woods, you get the idea.  And so, if someone's kid turns the corner and I'm still mid-stream, I'm suddenly a pedophile?

In fact, the story of the guy on a boat comes to mind.  Guy in Florida is on a fishing boat with some buddies and figures to himself, "Hey, I'm on a lake, the next boat is waaaaay over, and I have to pee."  And so he pees off the side of the boat.  It just so happened that on that boat waaaay over there, there was a family, and one of the kids happened to see said man peeing into the lake.

    And called the cops.

That guy is now a registered sex offender.  Because he peed off of a boat.  Hardly seems right, does it?

Now, if this guy is some sort of perv (especially if the beckoning part is true), then yes, the charge is warranted.  Sign on the dotted line, Pedro.  But if he really is some old guy who had to pee and picked an inopportune time to do so, then the pedo files really have no place.

  • Are there not restrooms in the park?

Not at all. Seems pretty much fictional.
