Someone Has Tagged DUMBO's Beloved Stabber Alley

Stabber Alley in DUMBO didn't really have much edge left—what with becoming such a popular Foursquare check-in spot, and being safer than the Manhattan Bridge archway. And now it's become a hot spot for graffiti artists, which means it's only matter of time before we see Shepard Fairey's minions wheatpasting what was once DUMBO's most feared alleyway. We spotted this new piece this morning, tagged right on to the iconic 101 year old bridge, and running the length of the passage. It reads: "No tiene dinero pero tengo mi corazon." Translation: "I have no money but I have heart," which doesn't really apply to many of DUMBO's residents.

    poor translation.

that actually reads: 'you have no money, but i have my heart' OR 'he/she has no money, but i have my heart.'

    Doesn't look so scary.
  • It's not anymore.  Before the area became high end residential though it was a choke point of opportunity for muggers who used to hide up on the ledges above and then jump down penning you in.

Now it's a choke point where 19 year olds jump down to pen you in, force you to sign up for Gilt Groupe, give you an American Apparel gift bag and disappear.

i always use stabber alley for short cut, fun to walk newbies there, freaks em
  • In spanish that translates as "You have no money but I have my heart". Which doesn't even make sense.
  • virgilstarkwell
'stabber alley' is about as annoying as the yuppies in dumbo who think it's *just so charming* that we have our own little drug dealers called 'smokey and cracky'.

Never a stabber around in Stabber Alley when you need one.
