Drunk Cook Guilty Of Beating Up Old Man In West Village

june24oldman.jpg A 6'1, 200-lb former chef at a posh Meatpacking District restaurant was found guilty of felony assault yesterday for "pounding an elderly man like a veal cutlet" during an unprovoked outburst in the West Village last year.

Matthew Redington, a former cook at the posh Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant Spice Market, was arrested last October after an altercation at about 1 a.m. on Bleecker St with 71-year-old Joon Ha Yoon. Redington allegedly screamed "Why did you bump into me?" at Yoon before going "berserk" and punching the old man in the face, leaving the elderly man covered in cuts and blood.

Redington will avoid jail time and serve one year of monitoring followed by five years of probation. Apparently, Redington has been in and out of alcohol treatment programs, but still drinks. Manhattan Supreme Court Justice A. Kirke Bartley threatened that Redington must "stay sober or face serious prison time."

Is no one outraged this cowardly piece of shit beat the hell out of a SEVENTY-ONE year old Korean man for no reason and does NO JAIL TIME??

This drunken brute probably had 6 inches and 100 lbs. on the old man and still beats him to a pulp.  Guess you're a real man there, chief.  Bet you feel you're the shit, don't ya, Redington?  It sure takes balls to pummel someone's grandfather.

And fuck you very much, Judge Bartley for giving this guy a pass as long as he "stays sober".  You must've been an alky yourself.  Seriously, what kind of judge thinks a crime like this doesn't call for jail time?  Must've been a Brooklyn Law School grad.

I'm with ya on this one. You know this piece of shit's gonna end up back in jail and let's hope he stays there for a good long time. However, I hope Yoon gets a shitload of money off of Redington if possible. You get beat up at any age and it takes a lot out of you, but in your 70's it will seriously shorten your life, if not finish you off altogether.
