Hey, Cops Hate Food Trucks, Too!

The displaced Treats Truck (Treats Truck)

Woe is the New York food truck driver, who has been having a rough go of things lately. Today Midtown Lunch reports that sweet tooth favorite Treats Truck is rolling out of Midtown following increased police pressure in the neighborhood. Treats Truck owner Kim Ima posted the following on her site this morning:

To my dear customers, We will not be midtown for the time being. The police have let us know that they no longer want food trucks in the midtown area...We are so sad to have to take our truck elsewhere. We hope to be able to return someday. For now, we cannot. We wish we could. You have all made the past four years very special.

It's been a rough few weeks for food trucks—first, Park Slope restaurants lashed out at the mobile vendors, then crotchety old ladies on the Upper West Side got all riled up, and today, the Upper East Side jumped the truck-bashing bandwagon, too. Perhaps it's time for all the food trucks to jump the pond over to England, where they're apparently quite popular.

No food trucks, but it's okay to have savages pulling shitty hot dog carts through the middle of the streets?  It's a truck, people are getting stabbed on your streets and food trucks are angering you?  Despicable.

32nd street is not the Upper East Side.

  • UES, Midtown East, they're both bland and boring and full of frat boys - it's easy to get them confused...

  • Hey, I live in Midtown and I want the food trucks, dammit. It's better than rotten street meat cooked in stank-ass spoiled grease.
