The annual Bicycle Film Festival is upon us, kicking off last night with a shindig at Santos Party House and carrying on through Sunday with a series of bike-related screenings, group rides, art shows and parties across the city. A full program is available online, but here are some highlights from the series:

• "A Very Nice Ride," which has riders meeting in the West Village for a leisurely ride to Anthology Film Archives for a screening of Bill Cunningham New York (Friday at 6 p.m., meet at 147 Reade St)
  
• Kerin: Leader Don't Crash, a look inside the fast-paced and lucrative world of Japan's Keirin cycling phenomenon (Anthology Film Archives, various times)
  
• Racing Toward Red Hook, following three cyclists competing in the underground Red Hook Criterium race (Anthology Film Archives, various times).

BFF was founded in 2001 by cyclist Brendt Barbur, who, after being hit by a bus while riding in New York, was determined to "turn his negative experience into a positive one." The Festival now takes place in over two dozen cities worldwide.
