Sarah Palin Inexplicably Quits "One Nation," Bus Tour

062211PALIN.jpg
Palin and an impersonator. Couldn't she just hire her to finish the tour? (AP)

Millionaire author and amateur historian Sarah Palin has quit her "One Nation" bus tour that she started back on Memorial Day for reasons unknown, but it is quite possible that the Famiglia pizza she ate with Donald Trump in Times Square gave her debilitating gas that only a few weeks of R&R in Alaska can cure. Palin had not made the remaining legs of her trip public, but she told reporters that she intended on stopping by South Carolina and Iowa, crucial primary states that stoked the theories that she would run in 2012. Also, South Carolina is home to roadside tourist attraction South of the Border, which is where George Washington signed the Emancipation Proclamation, and got some really cheap fireworks.

As Palin and her family relax at home, RealClearPolitics reports that her supporters were dismayed about "gossip suggesting that she had reached out to Texas Gov. Rick Perry about lending her support" to his possible 2012 run, but Perry aides shot those rumors down. Palin seems to be doing what she does best: avoiding any heavy political lifting in favor of the easy, lucrative life of the occasional pundit and speechmaker, although a Perry/Palin ticket has us salivating at the possibilities. A President who kills coyotes when he's out jogging and a VP that shoots wolves out of a helicopter: it's a match made for SpikeTV.

Palin's name will remain in the spotlight somewhat, even if she's not campaigning in earnest. A film about Palin entitled The Undefeated is slated to be released on July 15, and Bristol Palin's autobiography is chock full of the details of her illustrious, 20-year-old life, including her travels with the McCains (she'd "never seen people with so much Louis Vuitton luggage, so many cell phones, and so many constant helpers to do hair and makeup") and losing her virginity to a "gnat" named Levi Johnston.

  • I think she canceled the tour when this story started leaking out

Please keep in mind that I haven't had sex since this past weekend .. but .. her boobs look kind of awesome in that pic above.

    apologies all around.
  • The tour wasn't cancelled, she went home for jury duty. You know, that "American" thing all you liberal shits try to get out of it.

Contrast Palin's trip with her daughter to American historical sites, with Michelle Obama taking her daughters to Africa for fake photos of her pulling carrots, and telling us what to eat while admitting she gorges on french fries.
  • theonlyseven
You actually believe that jury duty story?  HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA

Hey, I got a bridge in Brooklyn I'm selling, cheap.  You interested?
  • poxod
Our nation must immediately pass another round of stimulus legislation in order to replenish our strategic reserves of "Palin Quits Something Halfway Through" jokes. Analysts say increased demand and reduced production has lead to upward pressure on prices, which could lead to a destabilizing effect on comedy markets in the fourth quarter, when demand for comedy typically surges.
  • Jury Duty back in Alaska.  Sorry liberals, you can stop whacking each other off now.
  • theonlyseven
Actually she is going to astronaut school.  She figures if she can see the moon from her house she is certainly qualified to command a space craft.
  • ixvnyc
Oh, damn. And here we are thinking Sarah Palin has finally said or done something stupid, inappropriate or irresponsible for the first time ever! Alas, as it is, she remains the impeccable role model for serious politicians everywhere.
  • robingee
How does her having jury duty make her suddenly not a walking joke?
  • Douche_McGee
    She's saying jury duty

Romney/Bachmann is going to be the repub ticket....

What is inexplicable about this sad sad woman quitting anything? That is what she is...a quitter. White trash inbred quitter at that.
  • Guest
Traveling the nation she realized it wasn't 1950 anymore.  So she is going home to see if Doc Brown perfected his time machine yet.
  • randomtransplant
South of the Boarder sucks. Palin would make an okay president from there.
  • robingee
South of the Border is mega awesome sauce!
  • Guitar33
If someone takes aim at a pundit/would be political figure like Palin it can hardly reconsidered bullying. Since she was invited to the national stage she came out swinging and (dare I say it?) bullying. Everything she gets is stuff that's she's brought on herself. It's not bullying to point out that she opens her mouth before she thinks, knows very little of what she's talking about and routinely embarrasses herself, and her audience. I almost feel bad for her when she has that deer in the headlights look on her face. But then I remember that she put herself in that situation in the first place.
It's a shame when the bully gets what he/she deserves.
  • taracorinne
hell yes to south of the border!  i know that bit's a joke but that place is pretty sweet.  and who doesn't like cheap fireworks?
  • sketto
She was never going to run. She abandoned the governorship of Alaska in exchange for making well-paid speeches. She has great celebrity and adoring crowds without actually having done anything. Why would she run for president where she'd actually be accountable and have hard work?

She'll never run. Ever. She's set for life and likes it that way.
  • robingee
THIS WOMAN IS AN AMERICAN HERO!
  • ixvnyc
The hero of all of AMERICA? I think you are forgetting the "lower 26". Letters of the alphabet, that is.
  • robingee
I have no idea what that is supposed to mean.
  • I really hope she gets another arbitrary VP tap.
  • Guest
When you have a pattern of quitting (various colleges, your job as governor, your own bus tour, etc.) "inexplicably" should be dropped from the headline and replaced with "again".
  • jaycjay
"Inexplicably" is certainly an odd choice of words to head this piece. There are, in fact, any number of possible explanations.
  • CityFace
Such as: She quit.  She's a quitter.  That's what she does.  *Yawn*  Next?
  • Spirit of 76
Wow, Sarah Palin quit instead of finishing what she started? Has that ever happened before?
  • felixthecat
Hey howboudemcowboys, drink some cranberry juice because you sound like a bytch on her rag
  • ktinnyc
Either you don't know very much about women or you're very confused. What does cranberry juice have to do with a menstruating woman?
  • felixthecat
LOL, then he needs to eat a box of chocolate and stop all his ragging.
  • robingee
LOL! It's all stuff to do with wimmen's plumbing down there, who knows what the hell's going on with the girls below the belt?
  • GunTotinLiberal
"who knows what the hell's going on with the girls below the belt?"

Men that have girlfriends or wives tend to know.
  • felixthecat
No need to be a mechanic to ride it.
  • GunTotinLiberal
lol   no, one does not need to be a mechanic, but one does learn after some time what to look for, what to listen for, even what to smell for before they turn the key. However if one finds the whole contraption is a compete and total mystery...well...I think we know what that means.
  • felixthecat
    :O. LOL
  • Sarah Palin quitting halfway through something is PLENTY explicable.  She's a quitter.
  • HypocraticOath
She quits. She sucks. Fuck her.
  • Stoneyjack
Faithful wife & helpmate Sarah Palin is working with her strong, muscular, blue-collar husband Todd at their fishing concession on Bristol Bay, Alaska. No big mystery. She will be b-a-a-a-ck in the Lower 48 soon enough.
  • NlGGAZ
The one good thing about Sarah Palin is that she totally hijacked the conservative bitch bus from Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin. All their pundit money has been bogarted by Palin. It's like the Highlander. There can be only one. So Malkin and Coulter are poorer and in the news less because of Palin.
  • Rocknrope
Agreed - anything that breaks Coulter and Malkin's rice bowl is fine by me, even if it is her.
  • publikhan
liberals need an enemy. Since Bush isnt around anymore, Palin is all they have. its actually pretty pathetic.
  • robingee
Yes... people who dislike her are the pathetic ones.

Another good nugget; "Libs are afraid of her!" Afraid like we are of a kid on the lawn yelling "LOOKIT ME!!!" We laugh at her. She's a joke.
  • jaycjay
Yeah, if only there were a Republican who could be feared as a credible enemy by the liberals! Lacking one, Palin has to do.
  • robingee
I can name policies and positions on issues that she has held as political reasons why I don't like her as a politician. I can find none of her "fans" able to name anything politically that they LIKE about her. It's always her hair or her legs or her folksy charm. That's something to run on!
  • albionbaby
And Obama had such a lengthy decisive record of voting present.  But he's black!
  • robingee
He's only half black. The racists should only half-hate him.
  • theonlyseven
We dont hate her, we're laughing at her and the stupid dolts that cant see she is playing them all for chumps.  Its hiiiiiiiilarious!
  • cr17
At this point I'm not sure liberals see her as an "enemy". Palin wants to be talked about, and everyone, libs and conservatives alike, give her what she wants. She craves attention - a beast that must be fed.
  • publikhan
Ok I can agree with that. But her relevance in politics is hyped up by the left because she is such an easy target. Does she have influence over a small part of the right in this country? sure. But is she the spokesperson for 50% of the electorate? no way.
  • cr17
I'd pin that one on the media. Everything that comes out of this woman's mouth gets reported on, and naturally people talk about it. That's the way media works here. You make noise, people talk. She's a bit like that scene in the movie "Private Parts" where they read the polls about why people who hate Howard Stern listen to him (answer: they want to see what he'll say next). Same thing for Sarah. Quite frankly, I think people see her as a cartoon, a distraction from the day to day if you will. Baiting her has almost become a sport, because, again, the whole beast that must be fed situation.

And now she's got the kids writing books, so this cycle won't be ending anytime soon.
  • Guest
I don't like this woman at all, and would throw her under her bus if given the chance, but I find it hilarious that liberals are always bitching about bullying, specifically cyber-bullying, and then you read posts like this one, where the author (aren't you from Winnie the Pooh?) slams Palin with what could be considered bully speech.  Just saying.
  • heyhohey
I haven't seen too much complaining about bullying, but I don't personally find it too mature/respectable to be flinging words like "libtards" or on a broader scope using terms/language that suggests liberals should be shot/killed. I feel like that kind of talk is on another level than bullying and crosses the line to violently maniacal. The "libtard" thing, I mean, c'mon, anyone who uses that kind of comment must have the mentality of a 13 year old and then run around flapping their limp hand against their chest making the classic grade school play yard "retard" gesture.
  • Guest
You're right and you won't find any of my posts that uses that word.  I also don't suggest that liberals should be shot/killed.  Is your reading comprehension just as fucked as everyone else's?

    ________________________________
  • heyhohey
My reading comprehension is just fine. You might want to un-fuck yours though. I didn't accuse you of anything or refer to anything you've said at all. I'm referring to the fact that OTHER people use "libtard" and wish violence upon people who are liberal. Why don't you re-read what I wrote? What part says that you did?
  • felixthecat
    You're a dumb fuck
  • Maybe the problem is that you mistakenly  assume  people who are "always bitching about bullying, specifically cyber-bullying" are all liberals.

When I note that Missouri, considered a Red State,  while under  Republican Governor Matt Blunt, passed some of the earliest anti cyber-bullying legislation, I wonder if maybe cyber-bullying  is an issue that transcends partisan lines. Just saying.

And having said that, let me get back on the topic by adding that I"m not surprised to read about Sarah Palin quitting anything.  The dimwit probably figured out big money isn't to be made doing bus tours.  She'll soon come up with a more profitable attention seeking endeavor, I'm sure.  The Palins are just a rustic version of the Kardashians at this point.
  • Guest
Palin=Kardashian. I like that. And I wasn't assuming that liberals were whining about it, I know they were/are because liberals whine and conservatives take action. That's why you hardly ever hear about conservatives needing just 2 more votes to get something passed.
  • dept54321
They do take action. Action to fuck everything up.
  • Guest
I think liberals have a lot of great ideas, as long as they quit trying to make the government bigger, and therefore, more intrusive.
  • theonlyseven
That would be conservatives who make government more intrusive what with the telling you when you can and cant have children, what kind of medical treatments you can have, forcing you to have medical procedures you don't want or need, what you can and cant talk to your doctor about, telling corporations they cant offer domestic partner benefits, who you can marry and who you cant  etc.
  • Guest
I agree. Conservatives can't keep their hands out of our personal business, and liberals can't keep their hands out of our pocketbooks. SSDD.
  • This is one of the most inane political observations I've seen ever.  The minority party in a legislature is about to get a law passed that the majority party is almost universally against at a national level...   and THIS is your best example of conservatives taking action and liberals whining?
  • Guest
No, it's not my best example, it's just an example.  Still, they haven't done it yet, so for now, I'm not inane at all.  :P
  • With all due respect, I think your entire motive for being here is to turn a discussion of an article on Sarah Palin that you don't like into a discussion about how much you hate liberals.

But, back to the topic.  Nice piece, Chris Robbins. It's got at least one Palin supporter's panties in a knot.
  • Guest
With all due respect, you are completely off the mark. I can't stand the woman and I don't have anything against liberals, for the most part. What I do have a problem with is jerks like you thinking this is a good piece of journalism when all it truly is is a regurgitation of the hypocritical bullshit that liberals, like yourself, believe and propogate.
  • You can't stand her so you post 17 times  complaining that "liberals" bully her.  OK.
  • felixthecat
    LOL
  • Guest
It has nothing to do with her, you dimwit, and everything to do with the overuse of the word bullying by liberals that don't understand that they do it themselves on a daily basis. I can't believe I actually have to spell this out for you. Liberals are supposed to be intelligent, but I guess that's just another sweeping generalization that's not true.
  • Liberals are at least intelligent enough not to entertain the notion of electing this nitwit woman to the White House.

If she goes two weeks without  free publicity from the "lamestream media" she runs to a microphone and says something stupid to get back in their sights.  It's utterly absurd to complain that she's being "bullied".
  • Guest
Don't worry, I'm sure liberals have their own nitwit lined up for 2016.

Also, it is absurd to claim she's being bullied.  The whole point of my post was to show just how absurd it is to bitch about cyber-bullying when most of it is not threatening or intimidating or harmful to the person being "bullied".  I apologize for taking this post off on that tangent, but there's only so much bullshit I can handle at any given time.

"Also, it is absurd to claim she's being bullied."

you been spending the last two days saying exactly that.

you need to lay off the ganja.  your short term memory is shot.
  • Guest
Nope. Just reponded to people responding to me. You, and that other jerkoff whatever his name is, are the ones who truly need to get a life, instead of monitoring my web habits. I could call the cops on both of you for stalking me.
  • theonlyseven
Do these words look familiar ?
"pointing your finger at her and laughing is bullying"

You've smoked so much pot you cant even remember what you have written.

Now go ahead, whine that I am stalking you, or bullying you or dodge the fact that I just caught you in a lie and instead insult me or call me names.
  • Guest
Just admit that the whole idea is completely over your head. It's fine to admit it. Don't worry, no one will point a finger at you and laugh. Except me.
  • theonlyseven
"no one will point a finger at you and laugh. Except me."

Youre going to laugh at me?  That makes you a bully. That means youre threatening me. I may have to call the cops.

The person that whines about people bullying others turns out to be a bully themselves.

     Who's the hypocrite now?
  • Guest
You're as dense as osmium.  Good night!
  • theonlyseven
Monitoring your web habits?  Stalking you?
    HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAAA!!!!!!!

    You really are paranoid.

Go ahead.  Call the cops.  See what they say when you tell them, "whaaaaa officers. people are stalking me by responding back to what I post on an open internet forum."
  • Guest
That just goes to show how inexpicably juvenile you are that you didn't get what I posted as sarcasm. Now please, give the computer back to your father. He needs to check his stocks or bonds or something.
  • theonlyseven
I see you attended the Herman Cain School of Back Peddling.   "uh uh uh  I didnt mean what I said.  I was only joking."

Apparently no one is supposed to take your words at face value.

  • Guest
Never mind. You just don't get it. You never caught me in a lie or backpedaling at all. Admit that the concept I introduced is too big for your widdle brain.
  • theonlyseven
Exactly the response I was expecting from you. How predictable.

Youre right, the concept that laughing at someone is the same as threatening them is a concept that goes over my head. In fact its gone over the heads of everyone here. It may have something to do with the fact that such a premise is untrue.  Youre tiresome and predictable.
  • Guest
You're not just sad and pathetic, you have a problem with admitting failure. If I really wanted to, I could rip your entire world view apart, but you've come to bore me. I really, really, really wish you could understand what I was getting at, but alas, you never will. Maybe when I'm bored tomorrow I'll explain abstract thought processes and the role that devils' advocates play in them. Or maybe I won't. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Until then, keep the stupid replies coming. Every time you type something it just shows your ignorance like a lighthouse in the fog.
  • I think the GOP at this point is frantic about 2012, not 2016.  And you're the one who brought up the issue of  bullying, in your very first post, and in the twenty or thirty other ones that followed.

Back to the topic.  I'm reading now that the quitter is claiming she has to go back to Alaska for jury duty, and her bus tour is still on.  Probably lying.  We'll see.
  • Guest
I know I brought up bullying.  That was the point.  I used this GOP clown for my own purposes.

Liberals can continue to pile on insult after insult.  Mark my words that it will only make her inevitable run for President in 2012 that much stronger.  Same thing happened with Dubya.

    ________________________________
  • It's really cute how you think you're actually clever.

Well, if your savior actually does run, it's going to make an awful lot of liberals happy watching her siphon off votes from any sane and sensible GOP contender.  (Assuming the GOP can find one, and has the collective brains to nominate one).

In the meantime, we horrible liberals will  keep  providing insults.  And I'm sure Sarah-Cuda, in her quest for attention and money,  will continue to make herself a target for them.

  • Guest
Thanks. I've been called cute many times, but it just means so much coming from you. Now, try reading through this post again. She is not my savior and I would love nothing more than to see her fade from the spotlight. And I've never said liberals were horrible, just hypocrites when it comes to things like bullying. You've proved my point more than once with your inane badgering.
  • Spirit of 76
You're twisting the definition of "bullying" to fit your argument. You can't bully someone who's stronger than you are. The best you can do is annoy them. Gilbert Gottfried can't bully Arnold Schwarzeneggar. A chihuahua can't bully an elephant (not for long, anyway). Are you saying that Gothamist is stronger than Sarah Palin?
  • Guest
I'm not twisting anything, I'm just looking at it differently. Also, you can bully people who are stronger than you. Strength is a matter of perception. If that's too abstract for you, I apologize. Hell, if we go by your definition, then teenagers are bullied by their parents on a daily basis.  I could go even farther to say that children feel intimidated by their parents pretty much their entire lives.  I know people in their 60's that still feel like little kids around their parents, worried that they'll make a mistake and be chastised for it.

I'm all for free speech and mocking and make snide comments and snark and whatever else. I have no boundaries when it comes to comedy.  I have a mother with Parkinson's, and I enjoy the hell out of Parkinson's jokes.  Does that mean I make fun of her out of spite?  Not at all.  I love my mother as much as anyone can love a parent.  I just see humor in everything and, ironically enough, I got my sense of humor from her.

Sarah Palin is comedy gold and yet liberals don't understand that the more they "bully" her with snide remarks and intimidating political commentary, the more they're stoking the conservative fires under her ass.  As horrible as bullying can be, sometimes it's exactly the motivation that some people need.
  • theonlyseven
What you call "bullying" the rest of us in the reality based community call simply reporting events as they happen.
  • Guest
Not true at all.  Hell, believing yourself to be in some reality based community is just plain ignorant.  Don't believe everything you see and hear, especially on television, no matter who is feeding you that news.  My point was that I'm tired of hypocrisy on both sides of the political spectrum.  Liberals bully Sarah Palin.  Period.  I don't like her either, but pointing your finger at her and laughing is bullying, no matter what you think.

  • The_Green_Devil
We aren't bullying Palin.  We're mocking her for being one of the stupidest fucking cunts who's ever walked the planet.  Seriously.... rewatch her botching of the history of Paul Revere's ride, a history that every school kid over the age of 8 in Massachusetts knows.  Pure comic gold.
  • Guest
And yet she still schooled people who never knew he was captured and what he then said to the British. You call it mocking, and I agree with you, but to the liberals that whine about bullying, it's the same thing.
  • jaycjay
"she still schooled people who never knew he was captured and what he then said to the British. "

That's just ridiculous, and I hope you're just playing devil's advocate  and don't actually believe that. The spin doctors who came up with that cover story ("this is what she really meant!") were pretty clever, but she didn't "school" anyone.

She fucked up. Her handlers later found a story line that her mangled version of the story could halfway be jammed into fitting.
  • Guest
I am playing devil's advocate and I know she fucked up, and yet I'm sure there are plenty of people that did not know that about Paul Revere. Most people only know his history from the poem.
  • theonlyseven
bul·ly n. v-tr. To treat in an overbearing or intimidating manner. See Synonyms at intimidate.

so laughing at someone is the same as intimidating them?  Yea sure, keep telling yourself that.
  • Guest
I don't believe that at all. If your reading comprehension was any good, you'd see that. But, since it's not I will mock and bully you until you run whining to the authorities that sticks and stones and words will break your bones.
  • GunTotinLiberal
Your words:  "...pointing your finger at her and laughing is bullying."

Bullying is an act of intimidation.  As you state laughing at someone is the same as bullying, ergo laughing at someone is also being intimidating.
I wonder, are you feeling intimidated right now? Am I bullying you? Because Im laughing my ass off over how despite spending FOUR HOURS defending this nitwit, you have failed. Get a life.
  • Guest
Read my other posts (re: defending this nitwit). I'm tired of having to spell this out for people that claim to have a brain.

O I read them.  They are pure comic gold.  HAHAHAHAHAAH  Im bullying you.  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHA!!!! Im bullying you. HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAA!!!!
