Anaheim 4 Mets 3: This one wasn't as painful as Thursday, but it still hurt. The Mets trailed 4-2 in the 8th when Ronny Paulino doubled home Jason Bay with one out. The Mets couldn't get a clutch hit and entered the 9th down one where a lack of clutch hitting lost them the game. Jose Reyes led off with a walk and stole second. Justin Turner followed with a walk to give the Mets first and second with no outs. But, Beltran, Murphy and Pagan all struck out swinging to kill the rally and end the game.

Cubs 3 Yankees 1: Freddy Garcia struggled early, but he settled down to give the Yankees seven solid innings. The problem was, the bats couldn't get anything going. Doug Davis stymied the New York office, allowing only three hits over seven-plus innings and the Yankees dropped the opened of their six-game road trip.
