With the little heat wave last week, Central Park has now reached 90 degrees on three days this month. That's one more than had occurred by this time last year, which wound up having a near-record 37 days of 90 degree weather. Maybe we'll get that record this summer!
Or not. There's no record heat, or even any temperatures close to 90 expected this week. A dip in the jet stream and a low pressure system off the coast will bring cool ocean breezes to the city today and tomorrow. For this afternoon we'll see a fair bit of sun and a high in the mid-70s. The Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for this evening for the southern shores from Nassau County east to the Battery. The wind will shift to come out of the northeast tomorrow and that, along with clouds and maybe some scattered showers, will keep us in the 60s.
High pressure should push the dreck out of here by midweek. Wednesday and Thursday are shaping up to be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 70s. Beyond that the forecast doesn't look terribly reliable. Friday would seem to be a cloudy, humid, day with a chance of showers with the last weekend of spring being sunny and warm.
